I wrote this story for my children when they were young. It helped them when they were sad and didn’t get to say ‘good night’ to their father because he was working late. I hope your children will enjoy this book and learn some important life lessons.

Once upon a time there were two children who loved their father so much that they missed him terribly each time he had to leave to go away to find buyers for his woodworking.The two children, Chris and Kim, were each given a gift made by their father to keep close to them until he could return. They worried whether he would return and prayed on the first star they saw each night that he would come home safely.This story portrays the love that a father has for his children and them for him in return. It shows that being kind to others by putting others before you can be rewarding. Also, some things like love and good health are far more important than riches.
After you read The First Star, ask your children these questions:
- Why did Chris and Kim’s father have to leave?
- What gifts did the children’s father give them?
- What important lessons did the children learn?
You will be surprised at how intuitive children are when you ask them these questions. They will give you some amazing answers. Children really do pay attention. Have fun reading and talking about this book with your children. It is a wonderful time to cuddle and snuggle together as you read. It is also a time to get closer to your children.
