This book is based on my dog, Lucy, who I had for 16 years. She was quite a character and did all the things that are in this book.
She loved my spaghetti with homemade sauce, watched TV shows featuring animals, hated baths, “sang” when music was played, and had two cherished possessions, a knotted rag and a ball.
I hope you will enjoy reading about Lucy. She is no longer with us and can never be replaced.
I wrote this book many, many years ago when I had Lucy. She was a mixed short-haired terrier with whatever?. She was a sweet dog who would follow me everywhere and cry if I ever left her alone. She was my little angel and saved me from loneliness and depression when I was going through a rough patch in my life. This book was dedicated to Lucy to keep her memory alive. She will be forever in my heart.
Children will learn how important it is to take care of their pets with love, tenderness and care. Our pets, especially dogs and cats, love us unconditionally. We should love them back that way. When a young child learns how to take care of his/her pet they will learn how to care for their own children with love one day.
After you read Lucy to your children, ask them these questions:

- How did Lucy respond when her owner left her?
