Here it is already the end of another month. Where does the time go? I have been busy as usual reading some wonderful books for the month of October of 2020. Here are the 6 books I read and reviewed for October. I might have read even more if I didn’t have a WIP. I hope you enjoy reading these reviews.
I love sharing my reads in this Jemsbooks Segment, Books Read in the Month. I hope you will get a chance to look these books over soon. Thank you for your kind support of my work and my fellow authors.
If you are an avid reader, as I am, please review the books you love on Amazon or wherever you purchased them in order for others to enjoy your reviews. Reviews are one way for readers to know about an exceptional book. We indie authors love to receive reviews and appreciate the efforts of readers to do them. Thank you for your kind support of me and my books and for supporting my fellow authors too.
Never Smile at a Stranger will keep you guessing until the end. There were plenty of sinister characters and suspects that kept the suspense high.
It was quite long with plenty of filler that built up the story but this didn’t keep me from reading until the end to discover who the killer was. First a young woman disappears and soon others too making the community wary of each other.
The author tells some of the story through the eyes of the killer even though she doesn’t let on who he is. He is dysfunctional, his sister is mental imbalanced and his mother was also mentally ill. That is what we discover as we learn more and his kills increase.
This is book 1 of a series of three books. This is a riveting way to begin a series.
Matica and Talon are going on adventures once again along with Tima and Tamo. She is growing up now at 13 years old and has a boyfriend, Amos. She and the condors have become closer and understand each other more than ever.
This is a story of the coming of age and resilience of a young girl to overcome being different. She finally feels she is accepted by others.
An unforgettable story that will have you on the edge of your seat as you travel along with the characters in this post-apocalyptic thriller. The characters are memorable, likable and well developed which will make the reader care about their safety.
There is so much going on in this storyline that you feel as if you are along for this thrilling and bumpy ride and running for your life. I didn’t want to stop reading some nights it kept me so tightly in its grip.
I met this author at a Readers’ Favorite Awards Ceremony in 2019. After hearing about her book I had to buy it. It’s an enjoyable and frightening read that makes one think about what we would do if something like this ever happen.
I highly recommend this imaginative story by this creative and talented author.
Patch Land Adventures Book 1 Fishing with Grandpa is a cute little book about a child who needs to wear an eye patch for Amblyopia. This adventure is a fun way to teach and encourage children to wear an eye patch. It’s also a helpful resource for parents who have children with Amblyopia.
The author introduces characters in a dream sequence, within the story, that all wear eye patches as they play a game of baseball. She demonstrates that there isn’t anything that Preston cannot do on his own while wearing his eye patch. He is confident and strong and can be anything he wants to be.
Children don’t want to be different from other children. They need to feel important and able to play and have fun with their friends. This book is a way for children to see that it’s okay to have an eye patch and that you can do anything you put your mind to do.
I was given a copy of this book and choose to review it without compensation.
Jjspina4.0 out of 5 stars A Mystery, Crime Who done it that will keep you guessing! Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2020The Body on the Beach is a mystery/crime/who done it that will keep you turning pages. DI Lena Lorenzen is brought in to investigate when a body is discovered on a beach in a community of Amrum where she once lived.
There are many suspects, secrets are revealed that will surprise the reader and the suspicion of child abuse is rife. This book kept me intrigued as the mystery grew. The only negatives were the names of characters were too similar making it difficult for the reader to keep track of them.
This is book 1 of this series. The story continues with DI Lena Lorenzen once more.
Crash is an unforgettable psychological thriller that will keep you guessing all the way until the surprising conclusion. The author knows how to keep his readers in suspense with twists and turns and the unexpected. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, it doesn’t. This book will give you chills!
The main character, Jed Allen, has lost his memory and wakes up one day not knowing who he is, what he does and where he lives. He looks in his wallet and see a photo of a beautiful girl with him. He vies to find her and get his memory and his life back. What he finds is anything but what he imagined to be real. He realizes that whoever he was before he lost his memory is someone he doesn’t want to be again.
This is the first book I’ve read by Keith Houghton but it won’t be the last. I look forward to more from this talented author.
