I hope you are having a wonderful summer or whatever season you are in wherever you live. Our weather here in New England USA has been in the high 80’s and low 90’s hot, humid and now it’s cooling down into the 70’s.
Some of our flowers are still coming up. I wanted to share the latest ones that are blooming with you.
Here are our two hyndrangea plants. This is the best year for blooms. One plant only has one flower but the other one has several. I was thrilled to see it doing so well. Four years or so ago our landscapers cut back all the hydrangea plants in the complex. That was not a good thing to do. Thereafter, none of the plants flowered until this year. Sigh!
Our rose of Sharon plants are doing well. A few of them are happily blooming. Soon all 18 plants will be glorious. I will share them with you at their peak soon!
They are hardy plants and do well wherever you plant them. We have them all over the yard, in berms and against the house. We need to trim them well after the season is over or they will keep growing and get wild.
Each blossom is different in color as is its stamen. The strangest thing about these discrepancies is all these bushes came from the same mother plant. Another odd thing is the mother plant had blossoms that were a lilac in color in the beginning and now after many years it has changed its blossoms to white. Who can figure? See mother plant below.
I will share more of them as they begin to flower. We have ten bushes on one side of the house, two in the front, three on the other side and three by the street side. They are quite impressive when they are all blooming at once.
These gorgeous bushes give us so much pleasure just watching them flower. I love the summer but look forward to the fall (my favorite time of year) which will be here before we know it.
Here’s a little visitor below we have daily eating the seeds that the birds drop from the deck.

Our mob cap hydrangea had lovely deep pink flowers when we fiorst moved in fifteen years ago, but has now changed completely to shades of viloet and blue.
It all depends upon the soil content of iron. If you want more blue you add a nail. We always had blue ones without any nail. They are lovely in whatever color they come. 🌺
I love hydrangeas, Janice, especially blue ones. Your Rose of Sharon looks similar to our hibiscus plants.

Pretty flowers – I need to plant some more varieties around our house. I like your comment about the Rose of Sharon flowers. I had something similar happen to me with Morning Glories. I planted a large variety of purple, deep pink, white and blue. For one year we had a lot of colors. Now all that comes up are the blue ones!
Oh, but they must be beautiful just the same. Our bushes keep changing too. Love them all. 😀🌺
