Imagine a collection of heartfelt children’s short stories that will stimulate your child’s thoughts, reflect diversity, and make a connection. In the book Make Believe: Bedtime Stories for Children by Janice Spina, children will experience various fundamentals of emotions and communication while learning that friendships come in various ways. The reader will enjoy meeting and reading about Russell the dragon, Calista Rose the fairy, Blue the alien, Shular the bear, and Whitey the skunk, as they are taken on a journey of fantasy and imagination. While each story has a special message, the overall theme is to provide children with love, comfort, and a feeling of belonging so that they will feel safe and not alone before they fall asleep. Janice’s stories not only provide these elements for the child reader but also offer a channel to help children understand the world around them and their link to it.
