Book 4 of Mysteries for Boys & Girls for Great Summer Reading!

Here is Book 4 of the Davey & Derek Junior Detectives Series, The Case of the Brown Scraggly Dog. I will be sharing and showcasing all six books one at a time, each in their own post. If you haven’t read these yet please share with your MG/PT/YA for fun adventures in summer or anytime reading. This book was a finalist in the Red City Book Reviews Awards Contest.

I wrote this series for my two middle grandsons who love to read about adventures and mysteries. They are my inspiration to write.

These books are enjoyed by both girls and boys and also parents and grandparents who pass them on to their children. My husband, John, is the illustrator and cover creator for these and all my books. This series has been compared to the Hardy Boys Books.

Available also on Barnes & Noble all Jemsbooks. Davey & Derek Book 4.

BLURB:

Davey and Derek Donato are at it again in this new book. In this case they come across a brown scraggly dog with blood on its paw but when the boys try to stop the dog, it runs away.

Aunt Gigi is here once again to assist the boys with their magic and provide some new spells.

Clues surface that suggest that someone may be injured and in need of help. The boys will have to use their skills and a little magic to solve this case.

I have put in an introduction in each of these books to help children understand the characters and the story line. Each book is a stand alone story with a satisfying ending that will leave children feeling happy and wanting to read another one. There are life lessons to be learned as children read that will please parents.

I believe children of all ages need good, wholesome and clean books to read that will encourage them to want to read more. Reading is good for everyone’s health by bolstering up confidence, spurns creativity and memory, eases stress and chronic pain and makes you feel happier. It’s also an escape from troubles and the craziness in this world around us. Get healthier and start reading!

Here are some reviews on Amazon:

Mrs.D.5.0 out of 5 starsShare the Magic!February 8, 2018Format: PaperbackIn her fourth book, “The Case of the Brown Scraggly Dog: Davey and Derek Junior Detectives Series,” Janice Spina has created an impressive mystery story that carries on the thrilling adventures of two brothers, Davey and Derek. The friendly leading characters and thrilling adventures provide plenty of excitement and magic to young readers.

Davey and Derek are now experienced young detectives who have a few solved mysteries under their belts. But this new mystery about the scraggly dog would be not so easy to solve if not for Aunt Gigi and her crystal ball and her magical way of teaching boys how to travel.

What the boys discovered at the end of the story surprised me the most. Well-executed ending of the gripping mystery!

As in her previous books, the author provided plenty of life lessons for children. Janice completed her goal with the most valuable teachings about respect, compassion, and understanding. She wisely underlined the purpose of her series, lessons that are very needed for middle school children.

Michelle Clements James5.0 out of 5 starsDelightful Story for Young ReadersMay 14, 2017Format: Kindle EditionJunior detectives, Davey and Derek Donato, are off again to solve another mystery with the help of Aunt Gigi’s magic and Mianna, the cat in Aunt Gigi’s crystal ball. The boys get into mischief as they try to discover what happened to the scraggly dog and how it’s paw got blood on it. The ending was a wonderful surprise and the kind of ending any child would love.
The author’s goal in writing books for children that bring to light life lessons that the children can learn from. These lessons include politeness (Davey and Derek are both polite boys), kindness (they are kind to the dog and to his owner, as well as to family and friends in this story), and sensitivity (they are concerned that their friend Mickey isn’t left out and that their mom doesn’t worry needlessly about them). Janice Spina accomplished her goal with The Case of the Brown Scraggly Dog.
This book is sure to delight. I highly recommend The Case of the Brown Scraggly Dog to young readers.
This book was gifted to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.
