Book 3 of Mysteries for Boys & Girls for Great Summer Reading!

Here is Book 3 of the Davey & Derek Junior Detectives Series, The Case of the Magical Ivory Elephant. I will be sharing and showcasing all six books one at a time, each in their own post. If you haven’t read these yet please share with your MG/PT/YA for fun adventures in summer or anytime reading. This book won a Pinnacle Book Achievement Award and a Reader’s Favorite Book Awards Silver Medal.

I wrote this series for my two middle grandsons who love to read about adventures and mysteries. They are my inspiration to write.

These books are enjoyed by both girls and boys and also parents and grandparents who pass them on to their children. My husband, John, is the illustrator and cover creator for these and all my books. This series has been compared to the Hardy Boys Books.

Available also on Barnes & Noble all Jemsbooks. Davey & Derek Book 3.

BLURB:

Davey & Derek Donato are twins who love adventures and enjoy being junior detectives. In Book 3 of this series their help is enlisted to find an ivory figurine that has been taken from the local museum.
There are many suspects and danger is not far from the boys as they learn more magic and use their skills to find those responsible for the theft.
Their Aunt Gigi is close by to lend a hand and at the same time help the twins hone their magical gifts.

I have put in an introduction in each of these books to help children understand the characters and the storyline. Each book is a stand alone story with a satisfying ending that will leave children feeling happy and wanting to read another one. There are life lessons to be learned as children read that will please parents.

I believe children of all ages need good, wholesome and clean books to read that will encourage them to want to read more. Reading is good for everyone’s health by bolstering up confidence, spurns creativity and memory, eases stress and chronic pain and makes you feel happier. It’s also an escape from troubles and the craziness in this world around us. Get healthier and start reading!

Here are some reviews on Amazon:

5.0 out of 5 starsAn action packed magical adventureFebruary 24, 2018Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis is book 3 in the Davey & Derek junior detective series and it is the best one we have read to date. Michael loves these two adventurous boys and the addition of some real magic in their lives really added to his enjoyment of the tale. Magic wands and books in the hands of 11-year old boys really captivated him and my Dad has made him a wand out of wood, painted metallic blue, so that he could have one too.

Davey and Derek learn the history and story of Aunt Gigi’s ivory elephant and discover some of this figurines magic. They are concerned for the safety of this figurine when they hear that a similar type of figurine has been stolen from the local museum. Certain local boys seem to be implicated in the crime and when a school peer asks the twins to help solve the case, Davey and Derek are thrilled to oblige. The boys embark on an exciting adventure to unwind the clues relating to the case, with some help and some confusion being provided by their magic books birthday gifts.

I would recommend this book for middle school children. My rating is five out of five stars.

Mrs.D.5.0 out of 5 starsMystery of a Magic ElephantFebruary 8, 2018Format: PaperbackThe author sent me her magical mystery “Davey and Derek Junior Detectives Series, Book 3: The Case of the Magical Ivory Elephant” for my honest opinion. I love this series for a few reasons:

1. Janice Spina is a very creative writer who takes risks. From the beginning, she plunges the readers into the thrilling adventure.

2. The “Davey and Derek” series is for middle grade readers, and the author executes them perfectly.

3. The life lessons throughout the book teach kids about empathy, kindness, respect, and teamwork.

4. Through her artistic writing, the author delivers not only the lessons, but also infuses the captivating scenery on each page.

With that said, the readers are sent off to follow two brothers, the self-made young detectives, to solve the mystery of a magical elephant that has vanished from the museum. The burglary happened at a local museum and the twins use their special talents. However, those aren’t enough to crack the mystery, and as in Book 1 and 2, Davey and Derek solve this mysterious enigma with the help of their gifted Aunt Gigi and their best friend, aka as Cat.

As in the first two books, Book 3 is full of thrilling turns and twists, conspiracy and enthusiasm, logical thinking and good fellowship.

With style and poise, Janice Spina has beautifully engaged young children in her great new adventure. The secret of the magic mystery awaits young readers!!

Michele Rolfe5.0 out of 5 starsThe next Hardy Boys!September 7, 2016Format: Kindle EditionThe twins Davey & Derek are at it again! Who stole the figurine from the museum & how is it connected to Aunt Gigi’s Ivory Elephant Figurine? This is the first book I have read of Janice’s & LOVED it! I was a Beta Reader for her & received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. This is a great book for kids who enjoy adventures. I LOVED Nancy Drew & the Hardy Boys series as a young girl. Davey & Derek are the next generation of young Detectives, in my opinion. Great work Janice!!

Did you know that reading is good for your health and that of your children. When a person reads his/her brain sparks alive with creativity, memory improves, an all over good feeling chases away the blues and all your troubles. You escape to a different place and time.

According to a research on activebeat.com: Overall, the data showed that participants who read a book for just 30-minutes per week reported greater overall life happiness, satisfaction, and social connectedness.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post. If you and your children haven’t read any of this series it’s time to check it out and find out what everyone is talking about. You will be hooked and have a fun time reading this summer. If you love these books I would be honored to hear from you and be delighted to receive any reviews.
