I want to wish all the mothers out there a blessed and happy Mother’s Day!
What does it mean to to be a mother?
It is the most wonderful feeling when you first realize that you are pregnant.
You find that you are constantly touching your belly even before you are showing.
You feel a warm glow each time you place your hand protectively there.
Anywhere you go or whatever you do your thoughts are about this little life that is growing inside you.
At the first stirrings of life you feel such wonder and amazement that it brings tears to your eyes.
You feel a strong pull of responsibility and love toward this little being as you prepare your life for his/her entrance.
Nothing in your life up to this point has ever felt more important or wonderful as this.
You may have some doubts and fears as the pregnancy progresses. You worry that you are not going to be a good mother or that you have no idea how to bring up a child.
You will have many sleepless nights as the baby kicks relentlessly at your insides.
You find yourself praying for the pregnancy to come to term so you can sleep again.
But little do you know you will never sleep again soundly for the next 20 years.
Finally the nine months or so are over (mine was nearly ten) and you are in the delivery room laying on the bed being prepped.
Everything is quiet and serene and then the pains begin.
Carole Burnett described delivery superbly as trying to pull your bottom lip over your head.
At this point everyone will have different experiences but in the end we somehow get through the pain and pushing and wishing death to our spouses for doing this to us.
We forget all the pain and suffering and husbands are off the hook for now when we first hear our baby’s cry!
It is the most beautiful sound God could allow us to hear!
Then that incredibly tiny infant is placed into your arms and all a mother can see is how perfect this baby is and how awed she feels just holding him/her.
As all mothers know life is never the same once you bring your baby home. There is no rest, forget a good night’s sleep and tons and tons of laundry and baby formula to prepare.
But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I did it twice and am so utterly thankful to God for blessing me with two exceptional children who have enriched my life with so much joy and blessings. I now have four precious grandchildren and one more on the way.
How do I feel about being a mother? I absolutely love everything about it!
I am truly thankful on this Mother’s Day for God’s blessings upon me.
May God bless all mother’s on this special day.
I made these dolls for my granddaughter and grand niece from a pattern online at Hooked on Crochet so they could practice being mothers too.

Happy Mother’s Day, Janice! There is nothing more remarkable than being a mom and I count that a blessing every day. it’s a miraculous event. Being a mom is the most challenging thing in the world but also the most important. Hope you have a special day tomorrow.
Thank you Deanie. I hope you have a very special Mother’s Day too. It was nice talking to you today. God Bless.
Thank you, Janice. It was fun chatting today.
Blessings to you
The little dolls are adorable, Janice. You are so talented. I have absolutely no abilities when it comes to sewing. Putting on a button is about as much as I can do and that can go either way.
Thank you Deanie. I crocheted them with recycled yarn. I have crocheted many different animals and Pokemon creatures for my grandchildren. I love doing it! The kids love receiving them so we all happy! I put some of them on my blog every so often.
You’re welcome. It’s such a nice talent to have.
