It’s always sad to see the summer end. We know it is time to close down the back deck and put away all the furniture and umbrella. My husband was busy doing this recently with a little bit of help from me.
All the flowers outside are now dried and looking sad since we had a frost already. We had to bring in my hibiscus which is now more than eighteen years old. It is full of buds waiting to open soon so I would not let my husband cut it back yet.
Here is a photo of it when it was outside and now after we brought it inside.

Once all the flowers are finished blooming, John will cut it down quite low. I hate to see it like that but it does take up a lot of room in our kitchen and can’t stay like that all year. It will continue to grow quite high if not cut back. It’s hard to believe that it has been lived this long and keeps coming back after all the cutting John does. I wouldn’t trust him to cut my hair! Haha!
Even though summer is gone, I look forward to fall and the cooler temps, walks in the crisp air, the feel and smells of the fall season, and of course, Thanksgiving dinner and all the fixings. Soon it will be Halloween and then Thanksgiving is right behind it. I hope you are enjoying whatever season you are in.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please come back again soon.

Not closing down yet because no freezes! Our stupid lemon tree just got new leaves and is blooming. Go figure.
That’s good! Bring it inside to bloom.
The problem is, when we bring it inside, it loses its leaves!
My son has his lemon tree inside and has grown some lemons. Amazing!
What does he do for it? Food, light, water etc?
I don’t know. He is in Ireland now but I will ask him and let you know. It may be a little while before I can do that though. Check out online in the meantime.
Thanks!
