I am not only an author but an avid reader as you already know from all my book reviews each month. As an author I have a favorite book that I wrote and also a favorite book that I read. What about you?
At this writing I have written 41 books with a few more in the works. I love all my books, because they are part of me. I put myself into all of them in some way as I know other authors do. We write what we know and how we feel, but I do have one that is close to my heart.
My favorite book that I wrote is Louey the Lazy Elephant. Louey is endearing and sweet. It’s the first book I ever wrote for children and illustrated by John. It was not digitalized in illustrations but more of a coloring book style. I published Louey in 2013.
It was the beginning for me as an author. I remember how excited I was when the copies arrived. I gave one to all my family. I don’t think they realized how special it was to me to finally realize what I always wanted to do – be an author!
Growing up I was always shy and lacking confidence. Pursuing my dream to be an author gave me the confidence I needed and craved for a long time. I finally did something worthwhile that made me happy. I still get that same feeling when I see a new book I published in print that I put my heart and soul into.
Mom’s Choice Awards honored us with a Silver Medal! So, I guess moms like Louey too! Receiving this award thrilled me and made John and me happy along with little Louey.

Louey is an adorable but lazy elephant who likes to sleep late. One day Louey wakes up to find that the whole herd has moved on without him. Louey is very upset but he is determined to find his herd. Does Louey find his way to his family and friends? Does he learn that it doesn’t pay to be lazy? Take Louey home with you and find out.

I have heard from readers that Louey is their favorite book too! They love the coloring style which is like no other book. John has questioned whether we should update Louey to digital illustrations. I refuse to let him change Louey. I love him just the way he is! He is unique. Children love him simply the way he is.

Recently I have been approached about republishing this book by a company. I won’t mention any names. I had never heard of them before. I do not want to change Louey for any number of incentives they may offer. First of all, I don’t believe any of these calls I receive about my books, and I have received many. There is always a bottom line which involves me spending money for them to promote my books. Sigh! I’m holding out for Disney! Ha!
If you haven’t checked out sweet Louey yet, please give him a chance and bring him home to your children. They will love him and want to hear his story every night! Happy reading!
Now – Readers – what is your favorite read in any genre? I look forward to hearing your favorites. It’s fun to share books with one another. I have so many on my kindle to read at this time but can always add some to my TBR list that is overflowing too! Amazon keeps sending me deals and $3 off to purchase more. They are killing my bank account!!
My favorite book of all time is Woman of Substance (Emma Harte Series) by Barbara Taylor Bradford. There are seven books in this series, six of which I have yet to read. Soon I hope to pick them up again. It was a lovely story of a woman who was unforgettable, strong, resilient and not afraid to do what she must do in life. I don’t remember my review and probably will not be able to find it amidst the thousands that are listed on Amazon. You should check it out to see for yourself how formidable this woman was.
I did scan through some of the too numerous reviews but could not find mine. Sigh! I read it so many years ago that I can’t remember when. I also bought this book for my aunt years ago. I told her she would love it. She did! It was an epic story with hundreds of pages but well worth the read. I noticed there were many 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-star reviews so desperate that it’s hard to believe some of them. But everyone has their own opinion.
There are so many books that I have read that I loved but this one has stayed with me for years. Bradford is an exceptionally talented writer. I only wish I was as talented as she!
Check out my Monthly Reads and Reviews here the beginning of each month of the previous month’s reads and reviews. There have been some wonderful books to choose from each month. As you can see by my reviews how important it is to review books to help spread word about an author’s work. I enjoy reading and reviewing books and helping my fellow authors any way I can. Please do your share to help authors everywhere! We will love you for your efforts!
Did you know that reading is good for you? Reading is not only important for children but it’s also very important for adults. It not only increases your word vocabulary and stimulates your mind, but also gives you a feeling of wellbeing and promotes good health, dispels feelings of loneliness, improves your memory, promotes better patterns of sleep, and don’t forget – it brings families closer when they share and read books together.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post. Please come back again soon. I love to hear from readers and welcome and appreciate reviews of my books wherever they are purchased.

I could never pick a favourite book of mine that I wrote. That would be like picking a favourite child and I can’t do that. But my favourite book would have to be Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maude Montgomery. I’ve read it more than once and always love it. Anne is such a spunky, resourceful girl!
I see what you mean, Darlene. I guess I do have a favorite child. Ha! Lovely book, Anne of Green Gables. I haven’t read that since high school. Time to read it again. Thanks for stopping by to comment, my friend. 💕
Hi Janice, I think the favourite book of mine that I wrote is While the Bombs Fell. It is also the most successful. My favourite book – well, that is really tough, but I will go with The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
