If you have been reading my posts you will know that we have a frog named Freddie. I have showcased him in his tank with his fellow fish. I even wrote a story about him that will be featured in my newest children’s book coming out in January 2023.

We have had some strange episodes with Freddie lately. Each time my husband, John, tries to clean the tank somehow Freddie escapes but John is always able to put him back in once he catches him.
Recently we went out to dinner with friends and came home to find Freddie not in his tank. We all searched the house for him and I found him in the foyer up against the wall trying to climb. I don’t know where he thought he was going though. I will not pick Freddie up since he is slimy and slippery. It’s hard to hold him because he slips out easily and hops away. Well, after a few attempts John captured him and put him back into the tank. The odd thing was I had a dream the night before that Freddie was going to jump out of the tank like this!
Another day I was going out to the kitchen and luckily I had the overhead light on and saw him in time in the middle of the floor. If I hadn’t seen him in time I might have stepped on poor Freddie! Yikes!
Of course, I yelled for my husband to come and get Freddie once again! It’s not easy to pick him up even with a net. All was well as Freddie was returned to his tank.
Now for the announcement – Freddie is no longer with us. No, I don’t mean he passed. Sorry about that. He is still alive but no longer living in the tank. We had to take Freddie back to the store where we purchased him several months ago. They offered to take him back.
We thought it would be the best thing to do since he didn’t want to stay in the tank since he had doubled in size from the time we first got him. I guess he was looking for more room and opted to jump out of the tank to find a new place. Sigh!

Today sadly we had to take Freddie out of the tank which was now wrapped with plastic wrap on the opened top to keep him from getting out. John unwrapped the top and put the net in to snatch Freddie. I captured all this below in photos.

It was sad to say goodbye to Freddie. Hopefully he will do better in a larger tank in the store and maybe someone will buy him and give him a new home. We plan to visit Freddie and see how he is doing in a couple of days or so. He was entertaining to watch but not too much fun to see him out of the tank. I was afraid of getting up one morning and finding him all dried out on the floor. Sigh!

Oh, poor Freddy! You did the right thing, taking him back to the store. He’s so cute, I expect a lot of people will want him. I hope he finds the right home.

Oh no! One of my daughter’s friends, by the way, has always loved frogs. I remember when she was young and had so many frogs. Then at one of their houses, they had a pond, which was wonderful. I’ll wish for one for Freddie.

I think you did the right thing for Freddy. Hopefully they can find him a more spacious home he won’t be so eager to escape from.
