Reading is Good for You! Let’s Get Reading!

Do you know that Reading is Good for You? This is a post that I update and send out each year to remind everyone how important reading is to our health and wellbeing. Not only that, it is fun and entertaining and helps us to forget our troubles and enables us to travel to another time and place or other lands.

I can’t imagine not having a book in my hands or my kindle every day. On occasion I have read two books at one time jumping back and forth between them. It can get a little confusing though if the books are similar in genre.

Since I enjoy all kinds of genres, I also writing in different genres as indicated by all the Word Art creations above.

Here are my links if you are looking for a new book for everyone in your family,

Purchase YA books here.

MG/PT/YA books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Jemsbooks Children’s books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

When we read a book it is like traveling around the world, or to outer space, or to a land that only exists in a writer’s mind, or into the mind of a killer, or into the animal kingdom, or on a visit to an exotic location, or into the world of faeries or science fiction.

We can go wherever we choose to go! All we need to do is pick up a book about whatever interests us. There are millions of books online, in book stores or libraries to choose from. We can escape for as long as we choose to read.

Did you know that reading is good for you? It not only increases your word vocabulary and stimulates your mind, but also gives you a feeling of wellbeing and promotes good health, dispels feelings of loneliness, improves your memory, promotes better patterns of sleep, and don’t forget – it brings families closer when they share and read books together.

As a child you can imagine that you are a beautiful princess, or a strong and brave knight, or that you can fly to outer space, or that you are a super hero, or can do magic. Whatever you desire to be you can have fun imagining while you read.

Do you remember the first time you started to read? What was your favorite book as a child? What do your children like to read? What do you like now as an adult?

As a child I loved nursery rhymes, and reading the classics, like Alice in Wonderland. As a preteen I enjoyed Archie comics, anything to do with Disney Mouseketeers, and mysteries. As an adult I read all of Agatha Christy’s novels, all of my son’s and daughter’s books, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, so we could discuss them together, and anything I could get my hands on at the library about mysteries.

I hope you will find time in your busy life to spend some time reading. It’s enjoyable and entertaining. Please remember to show some love to authors by leaving a review!
