We recently took a trip to the mountains to North Conway, New Hampshire to visit family who were camping nearby. The weather was finally cooler and beautiful in the 70’s and low 80’s. It was a refreshing change from the 90’s – 100 temp weather we had been having for a long stretch.
New Hampshire is so beautiful. There is something for everyone with all the campgrounds, picnic areas, scenic views of mountains and lakes, shopping and lovely places to eat. There is always something to do.
Here are some photos to share with you. Some on the way up north to Conway. The water is from the Saco River which is dangerously low. This is at a campground in Glen where we visited family who were staying there. This campground always used the Saco River to tube down into a pool. The water was so low that this was not possible even though there were some who still tried to do it.
We had a nice time with family, dined and celebrated birthdays. Some of these photos were taken on a tour of the campground. It was a perfect place for young kids to play. They had miniature golf, a bouncy ball area, swimming pool, a water park, country store, and plenty of places for kids to ride their bikes in safety. I did not share family photos. I never do just to give them their privacy.

We stayed at a motel that wasn’t the best. We’ll never go back there again. Yikes! I won’t mention the name. Too sad to share or say more about. Sigh!
We walked from the unsightly motel to the shopping and dining area about a mile away. We dined at a lovely little Italian restaurant Vito Marcelli’s. I had one of my favorites – Chicken Parm (without the mozzarella) and penne. I usually prefer fettuccine but I didn’t say that so the default was penne. It was good though. John had ravioli with bolognese. We had to sit at the bar which we never do. But since this place had reservations we took what we could get since we didn’t have one. The bartender was accommodating, friendly and entertaining. Did you notice the photo of the dark beer? My husband’s favorite. Who takes a photo of their beer? Evidently, my husband does! Haha!

We sat next to an older couple (even older than we are!) who just happened to know friends of ours. Once they left another couple (much younger than us) sat there and we started up a conversation. They were a sweet young couple (not too young, but anyone who is much younger than we are are considered young) who we enjoyed speaking with. I left my card with them and they promised to meet us at a local Italian restaurant near us. They just so happened to live not too far away from us in New Hampshire. Who knows if we will ever see them again? But it was fun to meet and talk to new people.
In the morning that we left we stopped off at a restaurant in Meredith to have breakfast. Here are a couple of photos of the bear that inhabited the waiting area and me. Notice how I did not touch it or get too close. It was a little creepy if you ask me but cute.

Didn’t realize John cut off the bear’s face! Oh my! But you can see him in the next photo which I took. Ha!
I don’t remember the name of the family restaurant where we had breakfast but it was the best breakfast I have had anywhere ever! It was not a fancy place but many families were there enjoying their breakfasts out too. The servers were so busy scurrying around to keep up with the crowd that kept coming in. The only negative was it was soooo noisy!
It is always nice to get away but it is even better to get back home. We have all the comforts that we need at home that we never find elsewhere. I did complain quite a bit about the motel where we stayed (much to John’s chagrin) and appreciated my bed and bathroom so much more when I got home. Ahh! You know the old saying – There’s no place like home! It is so true!!
I hope you enjoyed hearing about our trip and the photos. It was a lovely weekend. At least it didn’t rain which was previously forecast. Yeah!

We did! Thank you so much, Annette! 💕
Do sorry about the motel, but it seems you had a good time anyway and it was cooler with lots of things for the kids.
We can laugh about the room now! Yes, overall it was a nice trip! Thanks for stopping! 💕
Wonderful, Jan! I love a weekend away (or even a day trip) up north each summer. Love the bear!
Janice, I often shorten names, thus Jan. Sorry!
That’s what my family and friends call me. Thank you, friend! 💕
