At this writing I have 19 children’s books for PS-Grade 3. Seventeen of these books are in rhyme while the other two are not. They all carry life lessons that encourage children to be kind, caring and sensitive to others’ feelings, help others in need and it’s okay to be different. Hop on JEMSBOOKS EXPRESS today with your children and peruse my award-winning children’s books!
The life lessons that children will learn from this story are:
Clarence Henry the Hermit Crab – Clarence Henry teaches children to work hard and do the best you can do and be happy with who you are.

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER!
Clarence Henry is different from other hermit crabs. He came to his new home minus one claw and a leg. He needs to protect himself until he can grow new appendages. Will Clarence Henry be able to meet the challenges in his new water world?
Clarence Henry was a real aquatic hermit crab who lived in a saltwater fish tank in our home. We watched him interact with the other creatures in the tank. He was resilient, intelligent, and a joy to have as a pet. We took some photos of him as he grew his claw and leg and changed shells. We shared these photos and facts about hermit crabs in the back of the book. I hope you will enjoy them. This book will make a wonderful resource for classrooms.
Clarence Henry was an entertaining fellow. He was always busy doing his job in his new home – cleaning the bottom of the tank. He did a remarkable job too! It made cleaning the tank a lot easier for my husband, John, who is the caretaker of our two tanks. It was a sad day when we lost Clarence. He is missed still.
We now have a new crab which I have introduced in other posts – His name is Sebas Jr. Check out the search engine for them. Each crab we have had (three) has its own personality. They are all different and wonderful to observe.
I wrote this book to keep Clarence Henry’s memory alive and so others could also get to know him. I hope you children will enjoy learning about Clarence Henry and the job that hermit crabs do. I also wanted to show children that it’s okay to be different and that we are all different but beautiful in God’s eyes and have important things to do in our lives. We must strive to be all that we can be.
