We have, unfortunately, lost our beloved Puffer fish from our saltwater tank. I guess it was his time to pass. So sad. Here is a photo I snapped a while ago. He was sweet and had the biggest blue eyes that just looked at you.

This is the third puffer fish we have had. This one did not live as long as the previous two. We haven’t figured out what happened to him. He began to look lethargic and stopped eating as ravenously as he previously had.

It’s always sad to see one pass. Unfortunately fish don’t have as long a lifespan as other pets. Sigh!

We added a hermit crab to clean the bottom of the tank. The two previous ones we had always kept our tank pristine. This little guy is doing a pretty good job too. I posted about him already. He was named Sebas Jr. by my grandson who just happens to be named Sebastian. Coincidence?

We also lost our spiny black sea urchin. We think Sebas had a fight with him and Spiny lost. There was evidence of this by all the spines that were broken up all over the tank. Sigh!

My husband added another fish or two in the tank. Here are a couple of photos of the current occupants.

We have also lost a long time friend in our freshwater tank. He was called Angelo, the angel fish. He was quite large – larger than a silver dollar. His swim bladder broke down and he could not right himself and was swimming upside down and sideways. Poor thing. He finally succumbed. It was sad to see him go. My husband and Angelo got along famously. They had a chat every morning. When it was time to eat Angelo would get so excited and swim to the glass and wiggle in anticipation. I think he knew his name too. John would call out to him and he would come and look at him.

In the photo below he is looking intently at me while I snap his photo. He thinks he is going to be fed again!

In the photo above notice a small nip out of Angelo’s large lower fin. That was from a crayfish we purchased that tried to eat Angelo. The crayfish only lasted a few days. I have a feeling that Angelo got even with him somehow!?

John bought some Mollies to fill the void of Angelo but out of three Mollies, only one survived. He also purchased a white frog which is quite cute and extremely active. He appears to be confused and keeps looking for a way out of the tank. We did have a couple of frogs in the past and they jumped out of the tank. We found them on the floor the next day. I hope this one doesn’t do that! I almost stepped on one of them at that time! Yikes!

PS The last molly died as I was writing this post. Sigh! Life can be so fleeting for fish. I don’t want to come back as one! Sometimes they pass from stress of leaving one tank in the store to a tank in our house. Sigh! So sad!

There is always something going on in our fish tanks. It is fascinating to watch the fish in their habitat and how they interact with one another. They calm me down and make me forget all the troubles in the world.
