Update on WIP – Book 2 of Gateskin Chronicles!

I took nearly four months off to rest after publishing my epic fantasy series, The Legend of the Taken Ones (Gateskin Chronicles Book 1). I have never taken off that long from working on a book. This WIP took a lot out of me! Sigh! It was quite an undertaking with a myriad cast of characters, villages, spells and surprises. I had to type up the list of characters, villages, names of spells, and notes to remind me of what I was writing about in this enormous WIP. Yikes! The list of characters keeps on growing!

Some days I wonder why I began this series! I would ask myself, are you crazy or what? Then I would place my fingers on my new laptop keys (the previous laptop was nearly letterless with all the typing I do) and continue on with the story as the characters came alive and led the way. These characters are coming up with more crazy new characters and ideas that are driving me insane! Every time I try to veer away from the craziness they pull me back in and create something even more absurd. Oh boy!

Would you believe that my goal is to write and publish four books this year? I don’t believe it either especially if they are all from this series. I don’t know how I am going to do this without going insane from the characters who are haunting me until I write about them, even ones I don’t know yet! What?! I may have to branch out and write something lighter in between Book 2 and 3 to keep my sanity.

I hope you will check out Book 1 soon and let me know what you think. Do you think I am crazy for beginning this? Love to hear your thoughts!

Now I am into Book 2 with over 12K and over 110 words. I plan to have 450 or more pages and over 100K words. Wow! The would be the most I have written so far, I think. Of course with all the blogging I do I have far exceeded that by now since 2012.

This is Book 1 of a fantasy series that will have six books in all. In this book learn about the three children of King Gateskin and his wife, Queen Solinara. The children have had powers since they were quite young..

Serena was three years old when she learned of her power to move objects with her mind. Her brother, Simon, can fly and their sister, Catalina, can become invisible or blend into her surroundings. They live with their parents in Sovorotskina, the Land of Light.

With these powers comes responsibility. The children must try to use their powers for the common good and responsibly to help others. The three children befriend a Sprite named Spindle who accompanies them on their adventure. Along the way they meet up with their aunt and uncle, their mother’s brother and his wife, Wizard Hotenfaran and Fairy Procelina. The group must travel into the evil land of Parotovina, Land of Darkness, to save King Gateskin, who was kidnapped, and also rescue some of the descendants of their friends and fellow Sovorotskinans who were captured and taken by the Evil Ones. These descendants have been waiting a long time to be free to return to the villages of their ancestors.

The children have many trials and adventures along the way. Will they be able to rescue their father and fellow Sovorotskinans without endangering their own lives? Will the evil King Kaposkaran and his Queen Beregina stop Serena and her siblings from being successful or will they turn Serena and her siblings to their dark ways?
