Our First Snow! Books for Christmas!

On Friday, November 26, 2021 we had a first snowfall – less than a 1/4 of an inch! Ha! But it was still nice to see everything white for a short time. I’m sure there is plenty more to come!

As you can see there is little snow to measure but it still looks pretty. I love a big snowstorm as long as I can stay safely inside. I don’t want to be out driving around in it, that’s for sure. I pray for the safety of all who are.

When I was working I used to dread going to work if I had to drive in snow and ice. It seems like a million years ago now! We have had some scary ice storms here in Londonderry over the years. One particular time trees knocked down several power lines all around the neighboring hoods. I couldn’t find a street that was not clear as I tried to drive to work. Of course, I called in and explained the situation. Lucky for me my superintendent at the time liked me but also she had seen the power lines covered in ice on the news in my town. She told me she would not take a day from me. Phew! Lucky me!

Nowadays I am home all the time, no work and no babysitting. I do miss the babysitting and spending time with my grandson and granddaughter when they were young. They are growing up so fast now.

Do you love the snow, winter time, the cold? Me – not too much – especially after spending three weeks in Aruba. It took a little time getting used to the change in temperatures from 80’s to 30’s! Brrrr! But being a New Englander I am now used to it. I just bundle up a little more.

Currently I am staying toasty warm at night while I watch TV because I am crocheting a heavy blanket afghan. It is so warm and thick that I may just keep it for myself. I love crocheting afghans in a half dc (double crochet). Here are a couple I did last year which I kept.

The latest one I am crocheting is in stripes of white, dark gray, light gray and black. I love it! I give away a lot of these but take photos to remember them. Sigh!

I think making something for a gift is extra special. Don’t you? I give away lots of handmade items. When I give away my books I feel as if I am giving something handmade and special also. Each of my books is made with lots of love.

Seeing this snow makes me even more ready for Christmas! Are you? Finish your shopping yet? I just have some last minute things to do and I will be ready.

Love the snow, Janice. We never get any here but we are heading to Utah next month and we’ll definitely see some there! I also make afghans, but knitting.
