I am so excited to announce that The Legend of the Taken Ones (Gateskin Chronicles Book 1) is now here!!! I wrote this story about 11 years ago. Now was the time to polish and edit it for publication. I have some wonderful beta readers who have helped me along the way with a lot of my books. A special thanks goes to Patricia Bradley, Michelle Clement James, Michele Rolfe, John Spina, and Frances Stewart for all their support and assistance in reading and suggestions for my books. Their help is invaluable. We all need extra eyes to pick up what we may have missed.
I am a copy editor but it is more difficult to edit one’s own work. What our eyes see can be deceiving. Our minds have a tendency to fill in the needed edits without registering that there is something missing. I usually read my books a dozen times and after several times I do pick up what my mind might have missed previously. This is what I did this time too.
I recently read a book by a famous author and found five mistakes. These famous authors have several editors, beta readers and such and still miss things. There is always something that we, as writers might miss. I apologize if I missed something. It is purely my fault if there are any in the document.
There are a lot of magic, wizards, fairies, Sprites and adventures to read about in this series. I hope you will fall in love with some of the characters as much as I did. They control the story and tell me what they want me to write. It can be daunting at times but I like them to lead the way. I never know how the story will end. I am a reader as are you! Sigh! Happy reading everyone!
My book is now available in Kindle and soon to paperback.
Blurb:
This is Book 1 of a fantasy series that will have six books in all. In this book learn about the three children of King Gateskin and his wife, Queen Solinara. The children have had powers since they were quite young.
Serena was three years old when she learned of her power to move objects with her mind. Her brother, Simon, can fly and their sister, Catalina, can become invisible or blend into her surroundings. They live with their parents in Sovorotskina, the Land of Light.
With these powers comes responsibility. The children must try to use their powers for the common good and responsibly to help others. The three children befriend a Sprite named Spindle who accompanies them on their adventure. Along the way they meet up with their aunt and uncle, their mother’s brother and his wife, Wizard Hotenfaran and Fairy Procelina. The group must travel into the evil land of Parotovina, Land of Darkness, to save King Gateskin, who was kidnapped, and also rescue some of the descendants of their friends and fellow Sovorotskinans who were captured and taken by the Evil Ones. These descendants have been waiting a long time to be free to return to the villages of their ancestors.
The children have many trials and adventures along the way. Will they be able to rescue their father and fellow Sovorotskinans without endangering their own lives? Will the evil King Kaposkaran and his Queen Beregina stop Serena and her siblings from being successful or will they turn Serena and her siblings to their dark ways?
This is the last time that I will be publishing simultaneously two books, one for young children and one for young adults. It was grueling to complete two books so close together. My husband worked on the illustrations on the children’s book as I worked on the YA fantasy. We both completed the books around the same time. I published them a day apart.
Of course, being an Indie Author is a difficult task and road to travel. I do everything that is needed to complete each MS. Here is a previous post for those who want to be a published Indie Author. You may change your mind when you see how much work is involved. Believe me, though, I feel it is all worth it. I love being an author and able to do what I love to do – write.
After these two books I will take a little break before continuing on with the series. I already have started book 2 but need to rest and get away from writing for a little while. My brain is exhausted to say the least. I promise to get back to the grindstone soon though. I just can’t keep away from it. It is addictive! Sigh!
I hope you will enjoy this new YA Fantasy as much as my beta readers did. One suggested that I submit it to Disney. She thought it was that good. Oh well. I don’t know if I am ready for more stress just yet. I will think about that. I would love to hear what you think about this book. It is not my favorite genre. I only plan to write six books as I have done in other series. I like to mix things up and jump around genres. It keeps my mind fresh and active.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post. I appreciate all your support of my books and blog and all the reviews you may have posted wherever my books are sold. Keep reading and I will keep writing. We Indie Authors need your reviews. Reviews are the only way Amazon will recognize our books as valuable enough to support and promote.
