How much of a character or characters in a story are really me? When I write a new story a part of the character or characters carry some of my own characteristics. I guess that can’t be helped. We writers always put some of our feelings into our stories. When you write from your heart that happens.
If you have read any of my books you may see what I mean. In my latest novel, Lubelia Alycea, I put not only some of my grandmother in it but also a little of me. I am the narrator in the present time while my grandmother narrates the past. Most of the incidents are figments of my overwrought imagination.
I don’t always agree with my protagonists in everything that they say or do. I am a pantser (write by the seat of my pants) and let my characters take over the story. They have their own ideas and sometimes I have to rein them in before they get out of control.
As I write each book I feel for each character as they go through tragedy and strive.

In Lubelia Alycea I felt the pain that my Avoa went through each time she lost someone she loved.
In A Second – I laughed at the antics of Gramma Grace and felt the fear along with Athena of being followed.
In Hunting Mariah I felt the terror that Mariah experienced when she was being hunted.
In How Far is Heaven I suffered along with Priscilla when her husband disappeared and cried when her daughter went missing.
In Mariah’s Revenge – I felt the power of turning the tide on one who is evil.
In An Angel Among Us – I felt many different emotions from the eclectic mix of stories especially sadness over the death of my friend, Anne, who inspired the title of the book and the first story.
When I write I put my heart and soul into each story. I feel so many emotions at times that I am overwhelmed and have to take a break. I have never written a memoir because I don’t think I can bare my soul any more than I already do in my stories.
I have tried to mix things up a bit by writing in multi-genres. My next genre will be Fantasy. The one thing that I will not do is use vulgar language or sexually explicit material. There may be material in my novels though that is unsuitable to those younger than 18+.
There are plenty of books for all readers PS-Grade 3, MG/PT/YA and 18+.
I feel pure joy writing for children and hope with God’s help and blessing to continue to write many more fun adventures for children to read and enjoy. I do enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA and 18+ too!
