I am excited about this new novel I am deep into editing at the moment. It is an historical novel that is about a woman who lived to be 100 years old. The main character is based on my own grandmother who was a strong-willed and cantankerous person who I loved dearly. I like to think that I have some of her genes but am much softer than she. I certainly hope so! Ha!
This story was written and dedicated in memory to my Avoa, which means grandmother in Portuguese. There are some similarities to my Avoa in this story – she had a stubborn personality, she had a twin and an older brother, she did travel to Brazil alone, and she did outlive all her friends and siblings. I did embellish and use my creative license to write about things that I thought would interest my readers. I think my Avoa would have loved reading this book. She would definitely have gotten a ‘kick’ out of what I wrote about a women her age. I hope she is smiling down on me and sending good vibes to make this book a hit.
My husband has created this gorgeous cover using a photo of Madeira, Portugal from our trip over two years ago. Madeira is a beautiful island, a green, mountainous place rich in history, breathtaking landscapes, flora, fauna and culture with talented artisans who create outstanding wine, pottery and needlepoint.
This is an excerpt from Wikipedia : The region is noted for its Madeira wine, gastronomy, historical and cultural value, flora and fauna, landscapes (laurel forest)…Read more about Madeira here.
Watch for this book coming the end of April 2021. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I have writing it. I thank my Avoa for her inspiration in creating this woman who was unforgettable.
In the meantime, please check out all my other novels and short stories by clicking on the covers to the right of this post or by clicking on Amazon and Barnes & Noble for purchase. Sounds like a great story. I like that it is based on a real person. Your grandmother would be very proud of you and your accomplishments!!
Thank you, Darlene! I hope she is looking down on me and smiling! 💕
