I want to feature my second publication from 2013 – children’s book – Ricky the Rambunctious Raccoon today! I will be featuring a different children’s book in each of future posts. Stay tuned for more fun books for kids – PS-Grade 3!
Ricky has been around as long as his friend, Louey the Lazy Elephant. I thought it was time to feature Ricky. He was feeling left out. Once he realized that I featured his pal Louey, he has been pestering me to feature him next. I couldn’t take another minute of his constant nagging – so here’s RICKY! You know how he can be – very rambunctious! Ha!
Ricky is a rambunctious or very active raccoon who likes to wander around to find something new to eat. One night during his foraging for food Ricky runs into all kinds of trouble. Will Ricky get home safely? Will he learn his lesson to listen to his mother?
This little fellow captured the hearts of Mom’s Choice Awards recently when he was awarded a Silver Medal in 2020. This organization only chooses books and other items that they feel Moms will love for their family that hold high standards and carry important family values.
I hope your children will be entertained by Ricky’s antics in this fun and adventuresome story in rhyme. They will surely laugh out loud at what happens to Ricky in this delightful story. All Jemsbooks for children carry important life lessons that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Ricky the Rambunctious Raccoon – Ricky teaches children to always listen to your mother.
This book along with other Jemsbooks will be a welcome addition to your children’s libraries and become their favorite bedtime stories.
Here are some reviews from Amazon:
Valerie A. Ormond5.0 out of 5 stars “Read it Again!”Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2014Verified PurchaseI think the words of five-year-old J.C. say it best: “Read it again!” Janice Spina’s “Ricky the Rambunctious Raccoon” tells a lovely story in rhyme while gently teaching a lesson about rules. The illustrations are perfect with the story, thanks to the other half of the Spina duo, husband John. The Spinas obviously understand what will interest children, how long the story should be, and how to create suspense without scaring young minds. I look forward to sharing more of Janice and John Spina’s children’s books with the little ones and hearing them say “Read it again” each time
Eric5.0 out of 5 stars By Eric B. Ruark, author of The Little Tree That Would Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2013Verified PurchaseChildren and parents alike are going to love this little tale of Ricky the Rambunctious Raccoon and his adventure when he steps out on his own for the first time.
Ricky wants to run free and thinks that the dark will hide him. Only there are other critters out there in the dark too, and they teach Ricky that maybe, just maybe, there’s a lot of responsibility to “running free”. Ricky learns that he has a lot to learn before he can run free.
Children will enjoy Ricky’s little adventure. It is written in rhyme. Kids will enjoy its lyric quality and they will get a chuckle out of Ricky’s mistakes and gasp at his near misses. They will also enjoy the art work of Ricky’s adventure. I would highly recommend this book to parents of school-aged children. They will certainly want to read this book over and over again.
Wynette Mills5.0 out of 5 stars Ricky The Rambunctious Raccoon will have your children asking for more nature stories.Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2014Verified Purchase I really enjoyed this book with my grandson. His eyes followed the pictures as we read the story. He asked questions and was very curious about the raccoon’s mask and the skunk’s terrible smell. This book encourages understanding the importance of listening to our parents and what the consequences could be when they may “wander off”. It is written in a way they can relate to Ricky and the trouble he is in. While doing so it also teaches some facts about wildlife habits. I do believe this is a book that will help children realize not to stray away from their parents or talk to strangers, for example, the skunk. Once again, five stars!
Amazon Customer5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful night time shenanigans of a mischievous RaccoonReviewed in the United States on October 14, 2013Janice captures the spirit of adventure in the narrative, whilst John captures the mischievous nocturnal activities of this rambunctious little raccoon perfectly with simple, clever and colorful illustrations. This enchanting little book delivers a beautiful story, simply told. As with her other book, Louey the Lazy Elephant, Janice Spina embeds a cautionary tale into the narrative designed to teach children a lesson, whilst entertaining them with the funny antics of this mischievous, but endearing fellow. Children will laugh at what happens to Ricky as he humorously tries to evade the creatures of the night, whilst his mother is looking for him. It’s unusual for the narrative to be set against a black background, but in the context of this story, it makes perfect sense, given that all the action takes place at night. It is another aspect of this story that will appeal to children and help them interpret the message and imagine the world in the story. Another great book, by a clever team of Author and Illustrator
I feel pure joy writing for children and hope with God’s help and blessing to continue to write many more fun adventures for children to read and enjoy. I do enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA and 18+ too!
My goal in writing for children is to encourage them to read daily to enhance their life through good health and increase their creativity. Please read to your children daily even after they can read by themselves. This is a wonderful time to bond, cuddle, and get closer to your children. They will love and remember fondly the times you spent with them. Please keep reading and I will keep writing! Happy Reading Everyone!
Please consider giving books to all the children on your list for all occasions. There is nothing better than to see a child’s eyes light up when you give him/her a book – even more so when you read the book to them. You are giving them so much more than you could ever imagine, e.g., you spark their imagination, heighten their creativity, lift their spirits, increase their vocabulary, open up a whole new world to them, and encourage them to love reading. The gift of a book is worth more than gold to our children, grandchildren. Keep reading and gifting books to children. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers. Thank you for your support!
