Taking Time off from Writing to Bake!

TAKING TIME OFF FROM WRITING TO BAKE!

My oldest grandson’s birthday was a special occasion to bake his favorite, apple pie. He prefers pie to cake to celebrate. I made a small pie especially for him and a large pie for everyone else to share.

I made two little pies – one for my grandson and the other to freeze for another time when John and I had a hankering for apple pie. Mmm!

It was a happy celebration 🎉- he is now 20! What a nice age to be! Right?

Something strange appeared in the large pie that I had to share with you. Please look carefully at this pie below and enlarge it to see what I am talking about. Only in this view of the pie will you see it. Please let me know if you see the faces!

There appears to be three faces besides the one I made with the slits. Two small faces – childlike, one holding the other in his arms and behind these two faces is a gnome-like face with a long beard and a pointy hat. I hope you can see them or you will think I am out of my mind! I showed it around to my family and they could see them! Wow! Thank goodness! I am not crazy after all! Phew!

Well, all in all, it was a lovely day with turkey and all the fixings. I didn’t get to take a photo of the turkey because everyone crowded around as John carved. I completely forgot. It was golden brown and delicious! Maybe the next time I will remember to snap a pic. Sigh!

I found baking relaxing as I rolled out the dough and shaped it into the pie plates. I always loved baking even more than cooking. It is cathartic. I find that it refreshes me.

It was nice to get away from the sequel which is still in another editing mode. Oh boy, will it ever end. I have four beta readers and each one has given their own distinctive feedback on it. They are wonderful eyes to have. There is always something I may have missed on my own work.

Well, I promise to get it out this month – March! I will do my best to continue to polish it. Watch here and on my website – Jemsbooks.com for when Mariah’s Revenge will be published. A cover will be revealed before that time as soon as my husband has completed it.

If you haven’t read the first book, Hunting Mariah, you can check it out on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and on Jemsbooks.com.

Thank you for stopping by to read my meanderings. Thank you for your kind support. Please wish me luck in this new book! It has been a difficult thing to complete. I really didn’t want to do it but some of my readers requested it. Sigh! I try to keep them happy.

REMEMBER: READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS.COM!

Blessings & Hugs!

I can spot the faces! But those pies look so good, I’m afraid I’d have to eat them, face or no face. 😄

  2. Your pies look wonderful, Janice. I can see the little faces too.

  3. Happy birthday to your Grandson. Apple pie is a good choice!

  4. Jennie says:

I saw the face right away, before I read your words. It struck me as the face in the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter. Lovely!

  5. You grandson, what a lucky guy, gets to celebrate with family and his own apple pie!
