Interview with Author Christine M. Shannon!

Please help me welcome author Christine M. Shannon to Jemsbooks Blog – Interview An Author Segment.

It’s a pleasure to have you here, Christine. Please tell us about yourself and your books.

So sweet of you to do this! I really appreciate this, Janice!

Christine Shannon

1. Tell us something about yourself.
My name is Christine Shannon. I have worked in the banking industry for nineteen years and now retired. I reside in Michigan with my husband and we have one son.

jjspina: That is quite a difference for you from banking to writing.

2. When did you know that you wanted to be an author?
My neighbor, a retired doctor, inspired me to write my first book, Mickey and Hip Hop. It’s about a boy and his pet frog. My neighbor and I were talking to each other in the yard one summer day. We were talking about different critters living around us. Living in a rural area, there are quite a few of them. It was out of the blue he says “Why don’t you write a book?” I replied by saying “Okay, I will” and we laughed, but going back into my house I started thinking about a boy and his pet frog. So with pen in hand, I started writing my thoughts on paper and created my story.

jjspina: Inspiration can sometimes come from many different people and places.

3. What process do you need in order to write?
I need to be in a quiet atmosphere. Comfortable surroundings and a cup of hot tea.

jjspina: Whatever works for you to bring out your creativity. All sounds good to me!

4. How do you come up with ideas for your stories?
They just come to mind from time to time.

jjspina: It’s amazing how they can appear to pop into your head at any moment.

5. What projects are you currently working on?
Tying up loose ends with my new just released book.

jjspina: There does seem to be many of those loose ends of which to take care.

6. What do you expect to accomplish in 2018?
Some relaxation, spend time with family and friends for now. Possibly start writing a new book.

jjspina: We all need to relax and kick back once in a while and spend time with others.

7. What hobbies do you have when you are not writing?
Cooking and gardening.

jjspina: Cooking and gardening go hand in hand – from the garden to the table.

8. What is your target audience for your book?
Adults and Teenagers.

jjspina: This is a wide group to target. You should get your books into many hands.

A Mothers Love Forever Cm Shannon

9. Please share your books with us and a synopsis of each.
My currently published book was just released on my birthday January 31, 2018. It’s titled A Mother’s Love Forever about My mother who is deceased and appears to me in spiritual form and in my dreams to warn me that I am in danger of having cancer. I wrote this book to share my story and to let people know that they are not alone. They who have battled this terrible decease and have survived it.

Mickey and Hip Hop CM Shannon
My first book is a Children’s Book titled, Mickey and Hip Hop. It’s about a boy who finds a frog “Hip Hop” in his backyard and they become best friends. Mickey teaches his pet frog tricks and how to count. “Hip Hop” hops off one day and Mickey tries to find him. When he finds him, he discovers that “Hip Hop” has a family of his own.

jjspina: You current book must have been a difficult one to write. The first book appears to be a fun book for kids with a valuable life lesson about family.

10. Please share your links and where to purchase your books.

11. What advice would you give prospective authors?
Go with your visions and your dreams. When you wake up in the middle of the night and have thoughts going through your head for your book, by all means, get up and write it down because in the morning it can be forgotten.

jjspina: I agree with this too, Christine. When ideas hit me, I have to write them down or they can be lost forever.
12. Is there anything else you would like to share?
Stay positive and have faith no matter what circumstances you may be facing in your life. Believe in your inner strength. It’s there when you need it most, and it will surely surprise you.

jjspina: Nicely said, Christine.

A wonderful interview, Janice. I’ve heard many stories of how authors came to write their first book but Christine’s is the best – her neighbor.
