I am deep into editing the sequel to my first novel, Hunting Mariah. I am nearly through it for the fourth or maybe fifth time. I can’t remember now.
The more I look at it the more I want to change things up a little. I tweak it here and delete it there. It’s driving me crazy!
All you authors out there, how do you feel about editing? Does it drive you insane? When do you feel you have completed your editing?
Please check out Hunting Mariah on Amazon and Barnes & Noble so you will be up to date to read the sequel, Mariah’s Revenge! Watch for a cover reveal soon!!
Just when I think I am done, I find something else that I need to change. I had to take some time out of it after last night when I completed editing 16 chapters. Tonight I completed up to Chapter 29. There are 32 chapters in all unless I add more. Sigh!
I have to apologize to my Beta Readers for taking so long to get the MS to them. Sorry ladies! I am trying to complete it today and send it along to you by tomorrow, hopefully. I babysit my youngest grandson two days a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, and will do my best to get to it in between playing with him. He keeps me hopping. Fun times!
After working on one book for a while I get antsy and want to move on. I have another story that came to me in a dream that I need to write down. It’s a romance. I also have the beginnings of a series for girls that keeps popping into my head! Then there’s that YA fantasy that is waiting for my edits. Oh boy! They are like spoiled children who are vying for my attention! I have to whip them into shape and push them aside until this book is done.
In the meantime, my husband has begun a new children’s book about a dog. I have another book, a fairy tale, waiting in the wings for his attention. Poor guy! I keep him hopping.
Our house is a place where we are always creating something new. We do take some time off to go out to a movie and dinner or to kick back and watch some TV, read a book or just relax.
Well, back to the drawing board. I will finish editing tomorrow and then move on to the next phase – my Beta Readers.
Wish me luck! Stay tuned for when this new book will be published!
Thanks for stopping by to read about my latest endeavor.

Thank you for reminding me that I’m not the only one struggling with, not only time, but edit after edit. My wife and I, frequently watch our new granddaughter. Its fun, but tough. I recently published my first book on the cheap, and self-edited, after being given a price for a professional edit of over $3,000.00. I still haven’t figured out, how, even after multiple edits, I find mistakes. Good luck with your new book, and take care.
Thank you for stopping by, Patrick. I am a copy editor and have no trouble editing others’ work. When it comes to mine it is tougher. That’s why I use a content editor and beta readers. They will find what I may have missed. No. Matter how many times you or an editor reads through your work there is always something they missed. I find stuff in all the books I read even Dan Brown had missed some stuff! No on is perfect. Sigh! Thank you for your kind words. Oh, by the way, I only charge $1.00 per page for editing.
Wow. For my next book, I’ll keep you in mind.
It’s always tough to decide when to say you’re done with a story. It doesn’t help that how many times you have to revise or edit depends on the story itself. At least, that’s what I find. Basically, I decide I’m done when it feels right to do so. Whether that’s after three rounds of editing or six will depend on what the story and my mind agree on.
Sounds good to me. I will know when I am through too. 🤗
Wow. You are sooo busy. Tweak. Tweak. I know what you mean about. Decisions. Decision. Add. Delete. Tweak. Happy editing. Take a breather now and again. 😀
Yeah, right! 😜 Thank, Tess! 💕

EDITING….
Busy lady! I received my copy and will get to it ASAP. I have my granddaughters all week this week which really cuts into my reading time. By evening I’m too exhausted to read.
Thanks for confirming you got it, Michelle! Grandchildren take precedence over everything else! Happy fun! 💕
Thanks! The baby just started crawling AND exploring – so much fun!
My goodness Janice, you are a machine! You are amazing the way you pump out books, and blessed to have a husband you can share your work with. ❤
Yes, he is a treasure. I feel compelled to produce as much as I possibly can. Life is too short. I used to say I wanted to publish 25 books but now that I am working on 19 and have two in the wings to edit I am thinking maybe 40 before I leave this world! Ha! ♥️
OMG talk about a legacy! You’re amazing Janice. ❤
😁 I wish I had started earlier publishing my books. I want to leave something for my kids and grandkids to remember me by for generations to come. On my gravestone it will read She wrote, and wrote and wrote so others would have something to read! 😆 ❤️
Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 ❤
you are such active, busy and editing is a key factor which leads for more creativity.!
Thank you, Mihrank!
