Fall is here – my favorite time of year!

Ahh, fall is here! I love the carefree feeling of summer but I really love the cool, crisp, clean feel of the fall, the brilliant display of natures’ colors and the absence of pesky bugs, especially mosquitoes.

While the weather is changing some of the flowers are dying while others are still flourishing. Here’s a picture of ten rose of Sharon bushes my husband and I transplanted on one side of our house. The mother plant as been severely cut back this year due to an invasive weed that attached itself to the middle of the plant and started to choke it. I managed to pull the weed out and the landscaper did the trimming.

Some of the flowers are purple and some are white and this happens on almost all of the bushes. The mother plant used to be all purple but now it is sprouting both colored flowers. They are beautiful, fast growing and resilient. Once they get a foothold they keep flowering every year here even after being given a short haircut by my husband soon.

My rose bush is doing well with bountiful blossoms. St. Theresa is surely smiling down on them.

The hydrangea is still producing flowers but not as bright as previously.

We enjoyed taking our 2-3 mile walk around the neighborhood and I got these incredible shots of a couple of turkey buzzards sunning themselves on neighbors’ roofs. They are huge birds even from this distance.

Did the notice the cloudless sky of a gorgeous azure blue? Is there anything more beautiful in this world? It made me happy to be alive and well to enjoy it.

Here are some fall decorations to put you into the autumn spirit.

I hope wherever you live and whatever the season you have a lovely day!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my photos and thoughts with you.

  1. But here… in the southern part of Switzerland, fall still didn’t show up yet. The temperature is high and with little rain… the climate change is right now the most evident problem all over the world! And we should take it seriously… :-)c

  2. Lovely pictures and a refreshing early fall tour. Thanks, Jen. You have a gorgeous yard and garden. ❤ 🙂

  3. Beautiful pictures, Janice, with the blue sky.
Is that condor on your roof or a vulture? Looks great.

What a fun early fall walk. We have no color except a little in the dogwood trees, and it’s wet, soggy, warm and humid. I predict a late fall this year!

It will be welcomed then even more whenever it comes. I love warm weather but enjoy the changes of the seasons. I couldn’t live anywhere else. Thanks for stopping by. 😘

  5. Mt favourite time of the year as well, Janice. We’ve had an unusual cool wet Summer this year, but there are now signs of Autumn almost everywhere. Of course, the nights have also got longer, but I rather enjoy warm cosy evenings.

Our summer here in New England USA has been warm, humid and dry. Fall is more than welcome to make an appearance. We are experiencing some drought because of this. Thanks for stopping by. 😀

  6. I like autumn too, except for heavy rain and wind but so far London seems much milder and I’m still in short sleeves 🙋🏼. Loved your photos, I must take some pictures.

Fall weather is here this week, can’t say what next week will bring though. Our trees are just starting to turn colors and the roses are still blooming. Most of my flowers have given up for the year. We had Rose of Sharon at another house and I loved them. They are very hearty shrubs, not to forget beautiful.

    • jjspina says:

Our colors are changing fast due to the drought we have. But they are still beautiful. Yes, the Rose or Sharon are definitely hearty and beautiful and still blooming as are the roses. I only wish it would all last longer before the cold sets in. 😘 Brrrr!

Though I really do love all of the seasons, the cold of winter is okay as long as it doesn’t dip into the single digits, nor the summer temps don’t rise above the low nineties. I like to watch storms, but love to go to bed with the sound of rain on the roof. I’m not too picky. 😉

I feel the same, Michelle. I guess we think alike – great minds and all! LOL! xx
