It seems like it was only yesterday when the tragedy of 9/11 came upon this beautiful land of America.

It was shocking, incredibly unbelievable and frighteningly real!

All Americans can still remember where they were and what they were doing.

I was working in a school as an administrative secretary to the Supervising Principal.

One of the teacher aide’s ran into my office to report what she had just seen on the TV in the library.

I spoke quickly to the Principal and told her I would check it out to see what it could be.

I was hoping against all hope that it was a fluke, a mistake, a film of something else.

When I arrived in the library there were a few other aides and teachers standing in front of the TV screen glued  to the spot, mouths open, eyes crying and shoulders shaking.

The first plane had just hit the Twin Towers and I watched in horror as the second made its mark.

All I could think of was all those innocent people in the buildings didn’t stand a chance and for what?!  I remember seeing papers flying all around which did not get destroyed.  How could that be?

Who could have done this horrendous act?  Why would anyone want to harm so many people?

At this point nothing was known yet about who or why or what we had just witnessed.

It was all so horrifyingly real and so tragic. I will never understand why one group of people would want to harm another group of people.

It has been twelve years since this cowardly act.   Many lives were taken and others tragically altered due to tremendous and serious injuries.

Wives lost husbands, husbands lost wives, parents lost children, so many relatives, friends were lost.

Those who suffered the losses will go on but will never forgot.

Thank you to all early responders who risked their lives also trying to save others.  Many of these heroes, firemen, policemen and others lost their lives too.

Annually on this fateful day we will continue to pray for all those who died and for all the loved ones they left behind.
