We recently put two pumpkins out on our front steps. We are keeping an eye on them for any critters who love to eat pumpkins.

There are little teeth marks already on them. We sprayed them with vinegar but they didn’t stop them from tasting a little. Eucalyptus oil is another way to deter these pumpkin eaters. I haven’t tried that yet because I know these animals have to eat too. I really don’t mind that they eat these pumpkins because eventually the pumpkins are going to deteriorate on their own. Why not let the animals eat them before they do.
Here are some photos of pumpkins that got eaten in the past.

Here is a photo from last year of a deer at our front door eating a pumpkin. This photo was caught by a neighbor and shared with me. What a surprise! We never saw it.
I think the eaters this year, so far, could be some turkeys. We saw turkeys leaving our yard today and saw the small pecks on the pumpkin. Time will tell soon enough. I hope whatever is eating them is enjoying the pumpkin. Happy eating!

My sister takes her carved pumpkins to the park around the corner where the deer hang out, and leave them for them to enjoy, when Halloween is over, but she won’t put them out until Halloween…
That’s a nice idea for the deer. I’m sure they enjoy them. I know they enjoy ours too.
We always put our old pumpkins out in the woods for the animals. They disappeared!
Yes, that is one way to make them disappear!
