Summer is here – maybe!?

I walked around our yard today and snapped some photos of the lovely bushes that were blooming. We have had days and days of rainy and cooler temps lately. Today it was a lovely, warm day in the 70’s F. It was so nice to sit out on the deck and enjoy the sun and warm air. The flowers are happy too for some sun. They have been drenched.

Here are my photos. I hope they bring a little of joy and beauty into your life. They did that for me. The first group were all the bushes around our yard. The next set is from our back deck and the next are closeups of some of the flowers. I always love to snap these because you can see the beauty closeups and personal.

Here is a cute little chipmunk peeking out of our drain pipe. He heard me coming and raced inside to hide. Once I was quiet he peeked out to see if I was still there and then raced away when he spotted me.

Our pond is greening up now and the red-winged blackbirds are nesting there. I snapped a photo of one on our feeders. They stay in or around the ponds to nest and we see them balancing on the reeds and swaying to and fro in the wind.

When his wings are opened you can see more of the color of red and white inside. They are beautiful and make a funny sound when they are around. They are tenacious about keeping their nests protected from larger birds especially hawks. We have witnessed one or more of these birds chasing after a hawk who tried to steal one of their eggs or chicks from the pond. It is comical to witness how fearless they are when it comes to protecting their young.

I hope my photos brightened your day and brought some joy your way! It is always nice to see you. Come back again soon.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your continued support.

  2. Thanks for sharing, Janice. Summer has definitely arrived here in Texas!

My pleasure, Jan. Here the weather is up and down with fewer days of sun and warmth. Sigh! Summer will come eventually with a vengeance and then we will complain about the heat! Sigh!

Such a lovely yard! I love the rhododendrons! But they don’t do well here because they need some shade from our very hot sun. Some older houses have them.
