Books Read and Reviewed in February 2025!

Here it is already the end of another month. Where does the time go? I have been busy as usual reading some wonderful books for the month of February of 2025. Here are the 8 books I read and reviewed for February. I might have read even more if I didn’t have a few WIP. But I always seemed to have a WIP! That fact never stops me! I hope you enjoy reading these reviews.

I love sharing my eclectic reads in this Jemsbooks Segment, Books Read in the Month. I hope you will get a chance to look over these books soon. Thank you for your kind support of my work and that of my fellow authors.

If you are an avid reader, as I am, please review the books you love on Amazon or wherever you purchased them for others to enjoy your reviews. Reviews are one way for readers to know about an exceptional book. We indie authors love to receive reviews and appreciate the efforts of readers to do them. Once again, I thank you for your kind support of me and my books and for supporting my fellow authors too.

When I wrote these reviews I rated them on Amazon, Goodreads and sometimes Barnes & Noble. I did not include the ratings here though. It is best to share my thoughts with you about how I felt about the book without the rating. Ratings can be deceiving at times.

We all feel differently about books. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we like them and still other times we may dislike a book. Some other books are so memorable they take your breath away! While still others are sweet, sensitive, and enjoyable reads that we soon will forget. But all these books I have reviewed were lovely reads as you can see from my reviews. I hope you enjoy my reviews and that they will help you to decide what will be your next read.

Gone Too Far is a mystery thriller with Birmingham Police Detective, Devlin and Falco, who are on another tough case. This one involves two different scenarios that brings in former BPD officer, Sadie Cross, who is dealing with her own demons from the past.

When Kerri Devlin’s daughter becomes a suspect in a fellow classmate’s fall, Devlin is torn between her need to take care of her daughter and her duty to work on a new case.

This is a mystery full of twists and turns and surprises that kept me glued to the story. The main protagonists are well defined and work well together bring supportive in professional and personal issues.

I look forward to the next book in this intriguing series.

This collection of poems is beautiful, heartfelt, loving, warm, and sensitive evidence of the deep love the author feels for the love of his life, nature and many other things.

In his words, ‘All we have to give is kindness…all we can receive is love.’ Each poem is calming and serene with elegant prose that can be enjoyed again and again. This was a memorable and touching collection I would highly recommend to all poetry lovers.

A Killer’s Game is a non-stop action thriller that kept me holding onto my seat for fear of falling off or losing my breath. This is book 1 with Daniela Vega, a tough, no-holes barred former Ranger who is fearless and brave even in the toughest of death-defying situations.

Dani, as she is known by her family and others, takes on a mission with the FBI to help them capture several men who are known as killers. She manages to infiltrate the group with the help of a perpetrator, Toro, who is now working with the FBI to save himself from prison.

The author describes each trial that Dani must face to stay alive during this tough mission and manage to keep Toro on her side. Dani does not trust him fully yet. Each step she took brought them both closer to death. A thrilling rollercoaster ride through the unexpected is what the reader will feel. It was a heart-stopping journey with this resilient and incredibly brave woman. A wonderful character that will have many more missions, I’m sure.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I wasn’t disappointed. I look forward to the next book in this series. I recommend this book to all lovers of thrillers that keep you riveted.

Natural Selection was a short but enjoyable read. I wanted to learn more about how Sophia finally found love with a good and honest man.

Will there be more? I did enjoy the descriptions of the wildlife in the Galapagos. It is all so fascinating and wondrous.

Scarlet Ribbons was a compelling mystery of a woman who is in a coma from a tragic car accident. She doesn’t know what is real or imagined during this time. She learns that she has gained powers to move between this imaginary world and the real world.

She sees things that cannot be explained in this imaginary world from deep sadness in some areas to complacency in another. She meets a little girl who is being abused by her father and feels compelled to rescue her but how can she do this and escape this strange world and return to her own life with the girl?

This was a creative and imaginative story that kept me turning pages until its completion. I was gifted this copy for my honest review.

Chosen To Die is a thriller full of murder, mayhem and mystery that kept me glued to the pages. This is book 2 of the Alvarez & Pescoli series.

This story is everything you expect in an unputdownable thriller, strong characters, intriguing story line, plenty of action, adventure and murder. The author created an interesting and gripping series with these two female detectives about a serial killer.

I look forward to the next installment of this enjoyable series.

When We Were Friends is a quick interesting read about two women who become friends. As their friendship grows, they begin to see a different side of each other which is no longer perfect as they once thought.

Lucy sees her new best friend in an unfavorable light and strives to put it all into perspective. Elle is younger and carefree but doesn’t appear as friendly and caring as Lucy once thought she was. Will their friendship survive as these unfavorable traits become known?

An interesting side of friendship is displayed in this short read.

Everything My Mother Taught Me is a quick read that I didn’t want to end. Even though it was only 24 pages, it was packed with details of settings and characters’ traits.

This is a story about the relationship between a mother and daughter after the loss of the father. The daughter shared a closeness with her father but not so with her mother who is adulterous and only thinks of her own needs and not her daughter’s wellbeing.

It was a sad tale for this young girl who had to survive on her own in spite of her daughter’s neglect and bad behavior. She found an ally in a woman who lived and worked in the lighthouse that she and her mother had come to live. Even though she had stopped talking after her father died, she managed to write her thoughts to this woman.

I won’t tell you the ending, but it was a satisfactory way to end this sad but enjoyable tale.

The Usual Silence is a gripping and emotional thriller with a main protagonist who is unorthodox as a psychologist with deep-seated issues of her own. Dr. Arles Shepherd works to help others as she deals with flashbacks and losses of memory of her own past.

There are different storylines that intersect and come to full circle in a surprising way. This is a fabulous start and introduction to this intriguing main character and series.

I highly recommend this series’ start to all lovers of thrillers with surprising twists. I look forward to the next book.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Feel free to come back any time. Please review books for all the hard-working authors out there in Amazon land who are struggling to become relevant in this multimillion-book world. Your efforts will be appreciated!
