On Monday, January 27, 2025 in late morning we felt the vibrations and rumbling of an earthquake. I was in my bathroom when I felt this quaking. The whole room and walls appeared to be vibrating with rattling sounds all around me. It was at first measured to be 4.1 but later downgraded to 3.8. I called for my husband but he was in the shower. When he came out I relayed what I felt and heard and he said he hadn’t heard or felt a thing. Sigh! He missed it all! I was shaking along with the tremors with surprise, shock and a little frightened.
I took a photo of the notice in the newspaper for you to read below. The last time I remembered an earthquake in New Hampshire was back in 1986 or so. I was awoken by a rumbling sound and the rattling and shaking of a vase and bowl that I had on a nearby table. It lasted for several seconds. I think it was a little higher than 4.1 at that time. Some people had damaged dishes and cracks in their basements, which we noticed afterward.
This was quite frightening even though they were minor quakes. I knew after the shaking stopped what it was even before I read it in the paper the next day. This type of quake is not common and does not cause any damage other than scaring the people who experience it.

I was relieved to hear that this quake did not cause damage In our home as far as we know. Also, no cause for alarm about a tsunami coming our way even if this quake was beneath the Atlantic Ocean.
Have you had any earthquakes in your area? Please share. At times like this I am glad that I don’t live in areas where the tectonic plates are constantly shifting and causing quakes and possible tsunamis. Phew!
Well, I feel safe and secure for the time being unless we have more. I can get back to my writing once again. Stay tuned for more news about anything that happens in my area.
Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

Pingback: Earthquake in New England! – Patty's Worlds
Thanks for sharing, Patty! 🤗
Wow! That’s wild. Glad there was no damage!
Me too. We should probably check the basement floor. But I don’t think it was strong enough to cause a crack. 🫨
That you are safe and secure is terrific news! Let’s keep that good news flowing!!
Yes, that is a good thing. I am all f or keeping the good news flowing! ❤️
Wow, that must have been scary. Good that you are okay and nothing damaged. We experienced once, a long time ago, an Earthquake in New Zealand, South Island. We were in a forest, and we felt the earth moving und the trees bending. I know how scary it is.
It was a minor one. Thank God! It is scary. 🫨
Earthquakes can be very unsettling (sorry for the pun). We lived through two major ones in California, luckily far enough away not to do any damage to where we lived. And about then years ago there was one in New Jersey, I think, that resulted in a huge jolt to our house. I knew right away what it was!
I agree but in California the quakes are stronger than in New England. Thank God you were okay. 🫨🥰
Glad you’re safe! Surprisingly, we’ve had a few earthquakes in Wales, albeit very small. I remember one time when I was playing the grand piano in college and the whole room suddenly seemed to tilt slightly then right itself. At first I thought it was my brilliant (ha ha!) playing, until the tutor came in and said there’d been an earth tremor.
Back in the 17th century there was an undersea earthquake to the south of Ireland that sent a tsunami barrelling up the Bristol Channel, all the way to Glastonbury Tor. I really hope that never happens again!
Oh my goodness, Annabelle! That had to be frightening especially the tsunami! 🫨😳
Hubby felt it, but no one at school did.
We had a second one that was milder a few days later that caused the photos on the wall in our office to rattle. I can’t imagine if they were stronger how much damage there would have been. Scary!😱
Wow! So scary!
Yes! 🫨😱
