I recently posted about our pumpkin outside our front deck. It has been eaten by some hungry critters who like pumpkin seeds. I snapped a photo today and noticed that they finally got inside the pumpkin and ate all the seeds spitting out the shells.
Look closely and you will see some seed shells near the front of the pumpkin that have been left behind.

I’m waiting to see if the critters will be back to eat more of the pumpkin. In the past our pumpkins have been eaten right down to the stem.
Here is a photo of a deer caught in action by our neighbor eating one of our pumpkins in the past. I can’t believe we never saw this doe so close to our front door! Amazing!
I will let you know if we catch the culprit in action. A photo will be shared for sure.
Here is a poem I just wrote about our pumpkin:
One Lonely Pumpkin
A lovely pumpkin sits on the ground.
Its skin is smooth and clear.
Soon critters will come from all around
To taste its flesh here and there.
They will take a bite or two.
Leaving this pumpkin no longer round,
They will keep digging inside and chew
Some of the delectable seeds leaving the shells on the ground.
A misshapen pumpkin sadly sits on the ground.
Its skin is eaten and seeds are now gone.
While the critters who did this are no longer around.
I’m happy to share our bounty with the animals around. They are hungry too! We feed birds, squirrels (not on purpose though), chipmunks, a groundhog, rabbits, a feral cat, and whatever else pops into our yard to feast on seeds, this pumpkin and bread and other things we throw out.
Have you had a pumpkin eaten in your yard? Please share your stories.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Feel free to come back again any time.

Animals love pumpkins. I think it’s great that you feed the wildlife around you. xo
Turkeys were here today to eat some stake bread and leftover popcorn. 🤣
We are blessed to have your poetry, and the critters are blessed to have your pumpkins! win/win
Aww, thank you, my sweet friend! ❤️
Hare today, gone tomorrow! 😉 Our pumpkins fed squirrels, raccoons, deer, chipmunks and just about anything else from the woods! We didn’t mind! When the pumpkins got too icky, we lugged them out into the woods where they disappeared!
We do the same is there is anything left. 🤣🎃
