A Fabulous Viking Cruise to the British Isles!

Recently I took some time off to rest and recharge before tackling my next two books. My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary on June 19th that is now known as Juneteenth. We sailed on a beautiful ship – Viking Neptune. It was a memorable experience with such a wonderful cruise line. No one can do it better than VIKING!

I hope you enjoy all my photos. I took so many that I can’t share them all here. Here are just a few choices.

VIKING NEPTUNE

Our itinerary and excursions were fantastic!

All these excursions were booked ahead of time to ensure that we had a reservation before they booked up.

Our first stop was Bergen Norway. Such a beautiful city. We wore rain gear in case it rained but it was cloudy and there was a little precipitation but nothing to stop us. The scenery from the ship was beautiful too! The weather in all the ports were about the same 50’s-60’s and one 70 degrees.

Each day was another adventure with the excursions. We cramped in everything we could see and do and photograph to remember it all. There was plenty of time to relax on board in between. John always found time to take his daily nap. They also had an afternoon tea time. See photos below. I usually have tea in the afternoon at home but not the little sandwiches and pastries.

Here are some of the fabulous staff that were there at our disposal! They couldn’t do enough for us! I love them all! I wanted to take them home with me! Thank you, Viking, for choosing some wonderful people to work on board. It was like an international community with staff who were from all over the world.

Below we are celebrating our anniversary on our balcony drinking champagne that was given by Viking along with a cake. What a lovely thing to do! This made our anniversary extra special!

Dining was incredible with the amount of food choices they had. I will be dieting for sure. See for yourself from the photos of the lovely displays and stations they had. They had a carving station every night with a different meat – roast beef, turkey, chicken, Rock Cornish Hens, duck, suckling pig, flank steak! Incredible!!!

They also served all kinds of seafood – shrimp, crab, calimari, lobster tails, kingpin, Norwegian salmon, and cod. One night they had a station with filet mignon and lobster tails that were delicious! I was so excited to see the lobster that I forgot to take a photo of the station!

They had two different nights with special desserts – one with many cheesecakes and the other eclairs. I ate a couple of eclairs but no cheesecake.

Every day they had all kinds of desserts besides to tantalize us! Their cookies were outstanding – chocolate chip, dark chocolate, oatmeal and no sugar cookies that I tried each day! Yikes! I never eat all this stuff at home. I miss it though now!! Sigh!

Here are views of the different decks on the ship.

Here are some of the photos of different ports. While we were in Dublin, note the photo of girls dressed as Taylor Swift; they were going to Swift’s concert there. Also, Julia Roberts was there to attend the concert too. It was mostly girls attending we noted as we passed by the parade of them.

We visited a pub in Dublin called Lincoln’s Inn. It was lovely to sit there and feel the history all around us. John had a Guinness and I had a red wine. Such a wonderful day here in Dublin. Loved it! People were so friendly and welcoming everywhere we went on our cruise.

When we got to Scotland in Ullapool a bagpiper was playing music. Of course I had to dance around and the guide, Margaret, grabbed my arm and swung me around. She knew me after that and pointed out all the fun places to dance and drink to me. Haha!

More views of the White Cliffs of Dover. They were incredible!

We went to historic Dublin and saw the Book of Kells and the library but could not take a photo. I did do a small video of a few things that were in the interactive library but can’t seem to put them here. They showed an animated Book of Kells with the images coming off of the pages and flying onto the wall nearby. It was quite impressive and extraordinary to witness. We also sat in a small room with circle vision about the Book as the images floated around us. A little dizzying for me but I held up the wall behind me to keep from falling over. It was a memorable excursion!

Of course there were fantastic shows each night with talented performers. One night we danced under the stars to all kinds of upbeat music. I wore John out because I can go on and on and never stop dancing! Poor guy!

More selfies showing what a great time we had – so relaxed!!

I cannot forget the wonderful Captain and General Manager of the cruise. They made the whole cruise outstanding for us. Thank you VIKING!

I hope you enjoyed my numerous photos of this incredible cruise. If you ever want to take a cruise, you must check out Viking for an unforgettable trip. You will not go anywhere else ever again!
