What a wonderful feeling to receive another wonderful review of my fantasy series, book 2, The Unknown Territory (Gateskin Chronicles Book 2)! If you haven’t read this series yet, please check it out on Amazon. Let the Adventures Begin and in book 2 – Let the Adventures Continue!! Thank you to this reader who posted this beautiful review on Goodreads!
King Gateskin, his family, and the people of Sovorotskina are back to fight off the enemy, evil King Kaposkaran of Parotovina. I have waited for this second book in the Gateskin Chronicles with great anticipation. As in everything, Janice Spina writes, her writing is always age appropriate and filled with imaginative characters and great stories. The characters in The Unknown Territory: Gateskin Chronicles Book 2 are beyond fabulous! The existing characters are consistent with the first book, The Legend of the Taken Ones: Gateskin Chronicles Book 1. The new characters follow in the tradition of the former characters with the addition of some fabulous new creatures in The Unknown Territory. If they’re good, they’re very good, but if they’re followers of King Kaposkaran, they’re diabolical. But can Kaposkaran be so evil that these followers are willing to risk life and limb to escape Parotovina and join forces with Gateskin?
Appropriate for both young adults and adults, I promise you will not be able to put down The Unknown Territory: Gateskin Chronicles Book 2. It is mesmerizing! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Gateskin and the people of Sovorotskina in Book 3.
There is no way I can rate this anything but a five-star book!
Blurb:
The adventures continue in this addition of Gateskin Chronicles. Many new characters and creatures are introduced. Spells abound with magic all around. Many visitors come to Sovorotskina looking for asylum from the evil King Kaposkaran of Parotovina. Will King Gateskin accept them all or even be able to trust them not to be spies for the evil King?
Serena uses her powers to assist when wolves come their way. Other creatures are also about and threaten the safety of the village.
Kaposkaran finds himself in trouble when his village is attacked by creatures. Will he turn to Gateskin for help? If he does, what will Gateskin do?
There is a spy about in Sovorotskina. Will the spy be discovered and somehow stopped from undermining the magic of King Gateskin and his family?
There will be four more books in this series. I expect to write and publish two more, hopefully, in 2023. They may be the only two books I publish then since these books are epic productions and take a lot out of me. There is so much happening in them that I have a difficult time keeping all the characters, creatures and events straight unless I keep writing them down. I have provided a list in the beginning of the story in each book so far to help readers keep them straight too.
The books are growing in size. The first book is 500+ pages while the second book is 600+ pages. I do not plan to go to 700, 800, 900, and 1000 pages for the next four! I hope to keep the rest of the books between 500-600 pages unless my muse keeps the stories going stronger. I need to take a more active role in regulating the length of my muses diatribes. With the length of these novels they would entertain you all through summer or any time. When I wrote these two books I was taken away to the lands as if by magic. I soared along as if I were just an observer who never knew what was going to happen next. I didn’t know how each book would end until the muse and characters opened my eyes and led the way! Crazy, huh? But it is a thrilling ride, one that I look forward to in the next four books.
The names and places in this series are odd to say the least. Don’t ask me where they come from. I have no idea but my muse does. My muse sends me all these names at random and I have to write them down right away or I will forget them. This muse is unforgiving and does not repeat them but goes onto the next character, place or creature. Sigh! Once the characters come alive they take over the story and I am just along for the ride.
I have begun Book 3 but only wrote a couple of chapters so far. My muse has veered in another direction or should I say directions. He/she or whatever my muse is has pulled me into another series completely different from the fantasy. Once I finish this shorter series I will get back to Book 3 of the fantasy.
As you know, I am an eclectic writer as well as a reader. I love bouncing around with genres, ages groups and subjects. This keeps me thriving as my brain sends out sparks that push me forward to do more. Travel along with me to see what I come up with next. It will be a surprise to me too! Ha!
