Happy Thanksgiving!

If you aren’t from America you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but maybe celebrate your own kind of thanksgiving. I hope you have a wonderful day with family whatever you plan to do.

I wrote this poem in 2019 before COVID-19. The following year 2020 was a year that was unforgettable in a sad and tragic way. No one got together to celebrate with family and friends. We couldn’t have our usual large dinner gatherings. Many lives were lost (may God bless their families). My heart goes out to all of them.

A Time to be Thankful

by Janice Spina ((C) 2019)

It’s a time to be thankful.

It’s a time to be helpful.

It’s a time to be caring.

It’s a time to be sharing.

It’s a time to remember others.

It’s a time to remember that we are all sisters and brothers.

It’s a time to show love.

It’s a time to thank God above.

Thanksgiving is a time to remember that every day we should be thankful.

This year 2021 we are hoping that we can get together. There are so many of us now – 30. Some new members of the extended family I still haven’t met – two babies. My heart aches to meet them and my arms ache to hold them. Hopefully that will happen before they finish school. Yikes! Time does fly by!

Unfortunately I got a cold from my trip to Aruba and cannot be with my family this Thanksgiving. I will be home with my husband eating our quiet dinner for two with turkey and all the fixings. Well, maybe next year we will be able to all be together again! Sigh!

COVID-19 has been a damper on the past two years for all of us. We hope and pray that 2022 will be a new year without the virus hanging over us, masks will be no longer needed, and children will be safe in school once again. May God bless all the families who have lost loved ones to this dreaded virus. My heart and sympathy goes out to all of you.

I hope you and yours will have a wonderful day whether or not you are in the USA and celebrating Thanksgiving. May you celebrate all good things, family time, love and sharing of everything you are grateful for in life. God Bless. Take care.
