My First Book Published in 2013 – Louey the Lazy Elephant!

Louey the Lazy Elephant was the first book I published in 2013! I feel that Louey has been neglected for a long time. I have been so busy publishing 30 other books since Louey. I think it’s time to shine the spotlight on adorable Louey!

If you haven’t met him, now is your chance to learn more about my favorite book of all. I love this book and how my husband did the illustrations in coloring style. It brings me back to when I was just a kid and loved to color. Many readers have told me that they love the coloring style of this book.

John has wanted to update this book for years and I keep telling him not to touch it. It is our first creation together and it’s special. It’s also different from any other book out there. Children love it too!

If you would like to check Louey out go to Amazon or Barnes & Noble or by clicking on the covers to the right of this post or on the cover below.

Blurb:

Louey is an adorable but lazy elephant who likes to sleep late. One day Louey wakes up to find that the whole herd has moved on without him. Louey is very upset but he is determined to find his herd. Does Louey find his way to his family and friends? Does he learn that it doesn’t pay to be lazy? Take Louey home with you and find out.

Children will learn valuable life lessons from cute little Louey, e.g. don’t be lazy, always listen to your mother, and be kind to others in need. Read this rhyming book to your children from grades PS-3, ages 1-7. They will fall in love with little Louey too and so will you! He will become their favorite bedtime story. You will make Louey one happy little elephant and bring a smile to his sleepy face. Louey and I thank you so much!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reminiscent of Ferdinand the Bull Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2013 Verified Purchase As an author myself, it is no secret that I love children’s books. One such book that stands out in my own childhood is Ferdinand the Bull. He was lazy and slow and always stopped to smell the flowers and was never where he was meant to be. Louey reminds me of Ferdinand, adorable, sweet and always in a bit of a pickle. This lovely little book is written by a talented author and illustrated by an equally talented artist. The drawings are simply beautiful with their hand drawn textures and soft colors. The story will be very familiar to children who would have been told many times not to be lazy or this or that might happen to them. I remember as a kid not being told to play in the pool too long or the family might go out one day and leave you behind and that’s exactly what happened. This is a delightful and captivating read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I bought the Kindle version and the print version is on the way in the post. I cannot wait to see it in print.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming! Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2013 Verified Purchase The rhymes of this charming tale make it perfect to read to the little ones. Louey the Lazy Elephant’s adventure takes us on a journey to help him find his family. Louey was so ‘busy’ being lazy that he was left behind sleeping when his family moved away. Louey is a very lazy elephant, you see. What will he do? He doesn’t know how to find them. Louey seeks help from several animal friends as he sets out to find his family. Some are willing to help, others are too lazy to bother. Will Louey find his family? Who will help him? Who will not? Louey discovers that being lazy is not such a good idea after all. A great bedtime read for lazy little liseners. ~ Bette A. Stevens, author/illustrator of award-winning picture book AMAZING MATILDA: A Monarch’s Tale  Amazing Matilda: A Monarch’s Tale

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming and Adorable – With a Great Message, Too.Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2013 Verified Purchase”Louey” is a terrific book for young readers. The cute illustrations alone should be enough to keep kids entertained, but Janice Spina goes deeper than that, providing whimsical, easy-to-understand prose and a wonderful moral about the benefits of working hard. Parents searching for a fun, educational children’s book should look no further!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gem of A Book! Get It!Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2013″Louey the Lazy Elephant” is a charming book about a young elephant that lazes about and finds himself in a pickle. As he habitually did, Louey oversleeps even on moving day, only this time he wakes up to discover himself all alone; his family and the rest of the herd have moved on without him. To Louey’s credit, he does not panic. Rather, Louey immediately sets out in pursuit of his family and seeks the help of other animals along the way. In his quest to be reunited with his family Louey transforms! Acquire the “Louey the Lazy Elephant” and find out more about Louey and his eventful journey that compelled him to overcome his lazy ways.

I cannot imagine a more heartwarming gift than the dedication of this adorable, well-written and beautifully illustrated book by author Janice Spina and illustrator John Spina to their beloved grandchildren. Fortunately, all children and grandchildren now have the opportunity to get their copy of this gem of a book. Highly recommended!

I feel pure joy writing for children and hope with God’s help and blessing to continue to write many more fun adventures for children to read and enjoy. I do enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA and 18+ too!

My goal as an author of Novels for 18+ is to encourage everyone to read daily to enhance their lives and increase their creativity and good health. Please keep reading and I will keep writing. Happy reading everyone!
