My novel for 18+, How Far Is Heaven, is a romance/mystery/paranormal that will have you believing in angels.
I wrote this story after I had a dream about a ghost one night. Once I began writing the story it flowed and came alive. Readers will feel the connection between the father and his family and see how love can go beyond and conquer even death. Parents will want to count their blessings, keep their children close, and may start believing in ghosts.

Blurb: How Far Is Heaven
Parker and Priscilla Wilfork are happily married with two children. Life seemed perfect and peaceful until Parker goes on a business trip and does not return. Priscilla finds her world turned upside down when she searches for answers to how and why Parker disappeared.
One night Priscilla has a dream that Parker is an angel. Does this mean that Parker is now dead? After two years and no sign of Parker except in her dreams, Priscilla makes the decision to tell her children that their father has gone to Heaven.
Priscilla tries to get their lives back together until one day Deanna disappears too. Now Priscilla must go on a quest to find her daughter before it’s too late. She fears her daughter’s disappearance might be connected in some way to her husband’s. Can Priscilla go on with her life if she loses Deanna too?
With the help of a handsome police Sergeant, Blake Furelli, they work together to try to find Deanna and solve the mystery behind Parker’s disappearance. During this trying time, Blake, who suffered a loss of his own, feels drawn to the ethereal beauty of Priscilla.

The story is interesting with a lot of moving parts that come together in the end. It has elements of mystery, suspense, and romance which makes it appealing to a wide number of readers. The most heartwarming part is the message that a father’s love for his family can transcend even death itself. While there is a bit more of telling than showing throughout the story, it is still a very good read and one that many people will enjoy.

Balroop Singh5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping and positive storyReviewed in the United States on February 16, 2020Format: Kindle EditionHow Far Is Heaven by J.E. Spina is a poignant story of Priscilla whose blissful life takes a sudden turn just with one incident – the mysterious disappearance of her husband. This book is a page-turner, as Spina keeps the readers on tenterhooks, keeping the hopes alive with the investigations and telling her children that their dad would return soon. Despite the darker aspects, this is a heart-warming and feel-good story that breathes positivity.
Spina’s style is simple yet gripping, as she doesn’t waste a single word in dragging the story or dwelling on the emotional upheavals. Her characters find a quick solution to their problems; even Deanna knows how to handle the situation she was placed in. Parker’s presence adds a special charm to the story. Only Blake seems to be implausible but he has his own reasons for being so sweet. Highly recommended.
