Do Your Children Love Elephants?

Louey the Lazy Elephant is the first book I wrote for children. As with all Jemsbooks, it is written in rhyme with life lessons. It’s a fun adventure that teaches children to listen to one’s mother for she knows best.

Do your children love elephants? Louey is a lovable and sweet baby elephant. Children will love him and find him endearing and unforgettable. He is still my favorite character and book out of my 13 children’s books. Louey paved the way for me to write many more books that children are now enjoying.

I feel pure joy writing for children and hope with God’s help and blessing to continue to write many more fun adventures for children to read and enjoy. I do enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA and 18+ too!

Blurb:

Louey is an adorable but lazy elephant who likes to sleep late. One day Louey wakes up to find that the whole herd has moved on without him. Louey is very upset but he is determined to find his herd. Does Louey find his way to his family and friends? Does he learn that it doesn’t pay to be lazy? Take Louey home with you and find out.

Amazon Customer5.0 out of 5 stars Reminiscent of Ferdinand the BullReviewed in the United States on September 2, 2013Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseAs an author myself, it is no secret that I love children’s books. One such book that stands out in my own childhood is Ferdinand the Bull. He was lazy and slow and always stopped to smell the flowers and was never where he was meant to be. Louey reminds me of Ferdinand, adorable, sweet and always in a bit of a pickle. This lovely little book is written by a talented author and illustrated by an equally talented artist. The drawings are simply beautiful with their hand drawn textures and soft colors. The story will be very familiar to children who would have been told many times not to be lazy or this or that might happen to them. I remember as a kid not being told to play in the pool too long or the family might go out one day and leave you behind and that’s exactly what happened. This is a delightful and captivating read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I bought the Kindle version and the print version is on the way in the post. I cannot wait to see it in print.

To Louey’s credit, he does not panic. Rather, Louey immediately sets out in pursuit of his family and seeks the help of other animals along the way. In his quest to be reunited with his family Louey transforms! Acquire the “Louey the Lazy Elephant” and find out more about Louey and his eventful journey that compelled him to overcome his lazy ways.

I cannot imagine a more heartwarming gift than the dedication of this adorable, well-written and beautifully illustrated book by author Janice Spina and illustrator John Spina to their beloved grandchildren. Fortunately, all children and grandchildren now have the opportunity to get their copy of this gem of a book. Highly recommended!

Michael Cahill5.0 out of 5 stars Charming and Adorable – With a Great Message, Too.Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2013Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase”Louey” is a terrific book for young readers. The cute illustrations alone should be enough to keep kids entertained, but Janice Spina goes deeper than that, providing whimsical, easy-to-understand prose and a wonderful moral about the benefits of working hard. Parents searching for a fun, educational children’s book should look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining read and great story for the little onesReviewed in the United States on March 23, 2016Format: Kindle EditionI have to start out by saying that I am not an avid reader of childrens books. We read to our little one at bedtime, but that’s about as far as I go with these types of books. I really didn’t know what to expect when I started reading Louey, but it definitely wasn’t what I expected it to be (if that makes sense?). I figured it would be a few little rhymes on a page and a quirky little book. I was pleasantly surprised that it was much more. It is, of course, for kids, but it reads more like a story than the typical nursery rhyme book. My only critique was that the ending just kinda came out of nowhere. I don’t say this as a bad thing, but more because I was actually getting into the story and I was hoping Louey would encounter a few more animals along the way. Having said that, this book far exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be rounding up all of Janice’s books for our bedtime readings with the little ones (and the one on the way).

Here is a limerick I wrote for Louey:

There once was an elephant named Louey,

Who overslept one day, oh phooey!

He woke up to find

The herd left him behind.

Now he’ll no longer be lazy Louey!

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post. I hope you will check out sweet Louey soon. He is waiting to go home with you to entertain your children and teach them a valuable lesson. Thank you for your support!

Blessings & Hugs,

Janice
