A Birthday Celebration and a Mystery!

Yesterday was a lovely day to celebrate my birthday. Thank you to all who had sent kind birthday wishes to me making my day more special than ever!

My loving husband sent me more roses. Our anniversary and my birthday are too close together. We didn’t think this one through. He has to come up with gifts for two occasions. He has done a commendable job so far. God bless him!

We went to an upscale restaurant which is also a venue for weddings. The grounds are pretty as you can see here. My sister and her husband came with us. It was a special way to spend my 71st birthday with my wonderful husband and my loving sister and brother-in-law. (We may have to remortgage the house on this dinner!) We don’t go here more than once every ten years so we can save up!

My dinner – Seafood Bouillabaisse
Fruit & Goat Cheese Salad
My dessert – Triple Berry Sorbet

We snapped some photos with my new IPhone here.

It was a beautiful day and celebration with family. I am grateful for this special day and all the memories that I will cherish.

Beta tank minus Bubba Blue

Now for the mystery – when my husband and I woke up this birthday morning we noticed upon feeding our fish in the little 6 gallon tank in the kitchen that the beautiful blue and red beta fish was missing. We took apart the little tank and sifted through the rocks at the bottom but no fish. I recited my prayer to St. Anthony – Dear St. Anthony, please look around something is lost but can’t be found. (Three times) But alas, little Bubba Blue is still missing. We are at a loss to figure out where he could have gone. If he jumped out to freedom he is nowhere in sight on the floor. Sigh. Maybe one day we will find him!? Then we can give him a proper send off down the toilet.

We bought new fish – seven neon tetras but they are so small we will buy more to fill the tank. Still miss Bubba Blue though.

  2. Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday celebration… Glad to hear it!

Sorry about the fish. Hope you find him, even if it turns out to be too late to do more than give him a proper send-off. We can’t flush fish in our house… There was an incident involving a fish not flushing first time when I was little, and it made enough of an impression on me that just the mention of flushing fish in a toilet I need to be using makes me panicky. It wouldn’t be so bad if we had a second bathroom, so I could avoid the one used for the fish for a couple of days.

Looks like you had a wonderful birthday celebration. Depending on the other kind of fish in the tank, Bubba Blue may have been eaten. Neon Tetras are very pretty, tho!

Delightful, Janice (except for Bubba ☹️). Where is the Bedford Inn?

You know what’s sad about getting old? With pictures of beautiful women floating about, I zeroed in on the food. Anyway, it looked like ya’all had a good time.

  10. Cool post! Sorry to hear about the betta. I have had a similar thing happen to shrimp (total complete vanishing). Until today I have no idea what happened. The story is here: https://mathtuition88.com/2019/07/08/imposter-fake-amano-shrimp-that-disappeared-totally/
