What Constitutes Success in Life?

Dictionaries state that Success is:

  1. The favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors, the accomplishments of one’s goals.
  2. The attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like
  3. A performance or achievement that is marked by success, so by the attainment of honors.
  4. A person or think that has had success, as measured by attainment of goals, wealth, etc.

I haven’t made it there yet but I think success is to attain what you desire in life. If you want to succeed enough you will realize your dreams by hard work and great persistence and efforts.

Wait a minute! I think I may have attained that! I may not be rich monetarily wise but I am rich in the fact that I have reached my goal of being an author with 24 published books. I have yet to attain my goal of 45 books or reached the Amazon Best-Selling Author status or NY Times Best-Selling Author status or any Best-Selling Author status but I feel I have attained my life-long dream of seeing my books in print and read by all ages, I have my own blog, website and appear on Amazon and Barnes & Noble! I have received 13 book awards and have been a finalist in two other contests. I am honored to receive these awards.

I do not feel that I am a failure because I love what I am doing – writing. Even if I never become famous I will feel fulfilled that I did what I wanted to do with the help of God and hopefully made a difference in children’s lives by creating books for them to read and enjoy. I hope I have enabled children to grow to love reading as much as I do.

Jemsbooks Children’s Books with 5 Book Awards
Jemsbooks MG/PT/YA Books with 8 book Awards and 1 Finalist Recognition for Davey & Derek Book 4 from Red City Review Book Awards
Jemsbooks Novels with 1 Finalist Recognition for Hunting Mariah from Authorsdb First Lines Contest

Most of all I will never give up my dream to reach my goal of writing and publishing 45 books plus before I am called to the hereafter. (I am more than half way to this goal.) I don’t want to get maudlin but we all must leave this world at one time. What’s important is what we do with our time here. Live to the fullest and do all you can to achieve your goals.

I want to be remembered by all as a person who loved to read, write and create stories for all ages! I want to be remembered as a person who cared for others, loved life, loved to see children of all ages reading and enjoying my books. Most of all, I want to be remembered as a good person who helped others on their way to attaining their goals in writing and publishing by promoting them on my blog.

After reading this through I made it sound like I was ready to go. No, absolutely not! I am planning on being around for a long time. (Did you hear that Lord?). I hope He is listening and looks kindly upon me, a humble servant. I hope He will guide my hand to write more wholesome stories for children of all ages that will encourage them to read and grow in good health, mind, body and soul.

I have much to accomplish yet and plan on doing all I can to write many more books over the next several years. I hope you will continue along with me on my journey. I feel confident that with your kind support I can do great things.

I feel that I am a success as a reader. Reading is so enjoyable! I love to read and have read so many books on Goodreads that I am more than half-way to my goal of 95 books for the year! My TBR list is still teeming with books! Can you imagine that? Of course, every week I purchase another book or two thanks to Amazon. Amazon keeps offering me an incentive to buy books by offering me $3.00 here and there on their Daily Kindle Reads. I can’t help myself and continue to buy more.

Watch my monthly book reviews for all the books I have read thus far this year. Here are the books reviewed for January, February, March, April, May! You will find some wonderful reads by my fellow authors there.

What do you think constitutes success? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you for stopping by. It is always a pleasure to have you here.

REMEMBER: READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS.COM ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!

Please help authors everywhere by reviewing their books wherever you purchased them. In order to be successful on Amazon we authors need your support in this way with your reviews. Thank you for your kind support!

Blessings & Hugs!

  1. Andrew Joyce says:

You are rich, indeed. With your books, you have created something out of nothing. That is god-like! When it’s all over your works will live on. But more importantly, the love you have created while here will ripple down through the ages.

  2. I think you have achieved success, Janice. There is also success to be achieved in bringing up happy and well adjusted children, having a husband you love and a happy homelife.

  3. Amy Caudill says:

You have a wonderful world view, Janice! We could all benefit from adopting an attitude like yours.
