I wonder sometimes where inspiration comes from. I never know when or where my muse is going to inspire me. Plans can be made sometimes to write but they don’t always work out.
When I write a book I begin with a title. If I don’t have a title I cannot begin to write. Once in a while I need to tweak a title a little as the story may take a twist or turn in another direction. I have only changed the title on two books out of 24 books published so far. With the title selected I feel inspired to begin.
My inspiration comes from first my title, then my grandchildren who love to read, my love of reading, and my desire to inspire children of all ages to grow to love books as much as I do.
I believe that inspiration can come from many aspects of our lives in everyday things. It could be a great book we read, something we heard in passing, an experience that changed our thinking, someone we met that left an indelible mark on our lives or just the fact that we feel inspired to write because we love the joy we experience when we create a new story.
Once I begin a new book I feel the energy flowing, my muse working overtime and the characters taking over the plot. The characters become my inspiration. I let them have their say up to a point. It is an incredible feeling of being free to sit back as if I am a passenger on a journey not knowing where I am going.
I do occasionally write up some notes and a bare bones outline when I feel inspired to do so. Most of the time I let my fingers do the traveling across the keyboard. I try to write every day in one form or another whether I feel inspired or not. I find that once I begin writing I feel inspiration taking over and the words flow. I am in my element at this point and feel blessed.
I try to find some time every day to write whether it’s quiet in my house or not. Once I find a genre to write in nothing can stop me. I thoroughly enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA with my Davey & Derek Junior Detectives Series and Abby & Holly Series.

My next inspiration is Book 3 of Abby & Holly with more ghosts, secrets of the past and mysteries to solve. Fun adventures that can be enjoyed by both girls and boys.
What inspires you to write? Do you write every day whether you are inspired or not? May your muse be at your side every day and inspire you to write! Happy writing!

It is wonderful that you write so easily, Janice. I never had a title until the end and I usually change it.
I do occasionally change it a little. 😀🤗
That’s interesting, Janice! Like Robbie, I usually come up with a title about halfway through the story and sometimes it can change two or three times before the end, lol
