Are your children lazy? Do they not listen when you tell them what to do? If you are having problems with your children not paying attention? Check out this adorable book, Louey the Lazy Elephant. This is the first book that my husband and I worked on together and published back in 2013.
I have been so busy publishing 23 more books since then that I have forgotten about poor little Louey. This book holds a special place in my heart. He is so sweet and adorable. He will help your children learn an important lesson about laziness and how it does not pay.
All Jemsbooks children’s books carry important life lessons and are written in rhyme.
Here is a limerick I wrote about Louey.
Louey the Lazy Elephant
There once was an elephant named Louey,
Who overslept one day, oh phooey!
He woke up to find
The herd left him behind.
Now he’ll no longer be lazy Louey!
Available also on Barnes & Noble
Louey is an adorable but lazy elephant who likes to sleep late. One day Louey wakes up to find that the whole herd has moved on without him. Louey is very upset but he is determined to find his herd. Does Louey find his way to his family and friends? Does he learn that it doesn’t pay to be lazy? Take Louey home with you and find out.

Amazon Customer5.0 out of 5 starsReminiscent of Ferdinand the BullSeptember 2, 2013Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseAs an author myself, it is no secret that I love children’s books. One such book that stands out in my own childhood is Ferdinand the Bull. He was lazy and slow and always stopped to smell the flowers and was never where he was meant to be. Louey reminds me of Ferdinand, adorable, sweet and always in a bit of a pickle. This lovely little book is written by a talented author and illustrated by an equally talented artist. The drawings are simply beautiful with their hand drawn textures and soft colors. The story will be very familiar to children who would have been told many times not to be lazy or this or that might happen to them. I remember as a kid not being told to play in the pool too long or the family might go out one day and leave you behind and that’s exactly what happened. This is a delightful and captivating read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I bought the Kindle version and the print version is on the way in the post. I cannot wait to see it in print.

Louey the Lazy Elephant’s adventure takes us on a journey to help him find his family. Louey was so ‘busy’ being lazy that he was left behind sleeping when his family moved away. Louey is a very lazy elephant, you see. What will he do? He doesn’t know how to find them. Louey seeks help from several animal friends as he sets out to find his family. Some are willing to help, others are too lazy to bother. Will Louey find his family? Who will help him? Who will not? Louey discovers that being lazy is not such a good idea after all. A great bedtime read for lazy little liseners. ~ Bette A. Stevens
Barbara MojicaTop Contributor: Children’s Books5.0 out of 5 starsSLEEPING INJanuary 30, 2016Format: Kindle EditionPerfect picture book for preschoolers. Louey is a lazy elephant who loves to sleep in. Despite his mother’s warning that the herd will be moving the following morning, Louey decides to ignore her. When Louey finally rouses himself, the herd is gone. Now he is frightened!
Louey searches everywhere and seeks help from animals like the hyena and snake. A bird up above has been watching and observing; she has a proposition for Louey. Will Louey ever find his family? Has he learned a lesson not to be so lazy?
The illustrations in the book are reminiscent of a crayon book. My urge was to scratch them because they look like a finished coloring page. Large print is appealing to young readers; the rhyme makes the book a fun read aloud or bedtime story. Highly recommended for parents, grandparents and teachers
Thank you for stopping by to read about Louey. I hope you will share Louey with your children for some fun reading time together.
