Vacation in Aruba!

VACATION IN ARUBA!

Ahh, need I say more? Most of the day was spent traveling and then unpacking at the hotel. We were both tired and only wanted to eat something quick and then get to bed early.

Here is the view from our 8th floor room in the tower. Notice the beautiful shaded of green and blue in the water. It’s breathtaking and warm but refreshing after a long walk along the beach or walkway.

Inside our room – a studio with a kitchenette, bed, living area and bathroom and a nice little balcony to enjoy the beautiful views of beach and sunset.

My handsome hubby relaxing before we go out to dinner.

I never get tired ot snapping sunset views during this first week. I caught a sailboat as it passed right through the sunset on the ocean. Fabulous photo! I will have to share it in another post because the internet went down just as I was trying to place it here. I will try to post it in the next blog. Sorry about that. Enjoy these two below though.

Internet is not dependable reason why this is our second day and will probably be our third day before I get this posted.

We are here for three weeks. The first week we are in the tower on the 8th floor as noted above with the sunset views. The second week we are on the 9th floor in a one-bedroom unit on the opposite side of the building and do not have sunset views. I am not that early a riser so don’t have sunrise views. Sorry. We will be in another one-bedroom unit in this tower for the third week. Don’t know what floor yet though. I promise to do a post for each week to share our views from the rooms.

View of the ocean from sitting on our balcony.

We spend our days walking, swimming, reading under our palapas (wooden umbrellas) and then walking to dinner at night. There are more than enough restaurants to dine at a different one each night we are here. We do have our favorites and will visit them a couple times each over the 21 days – Driftwood, Chalet Suisse, Blossoms,  to mention a few. The food is delicious, fresh fish catch of the day every day and plenty of beef from Argentina and New York. Yes, I said New York, USA! They also have chicken, and all kinds of seafood – shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, calamari and octopus. Yum! I love it all!

Another lovely view from our balcony.

I promise to take some photos of my food if I don’t eat it before I remember to do that. Sigh! So far on our third day here I have eaten all my food before taking a photo. Sorry! LOL!

Mahi mahi on day one, Chinese fare on day two and tonight a mouth-wateringly delicious NY sirloin in one of our favorite restaurants (Chalet Suisse)! Tomorrow may be a pizza and gelato. Yum!

Thank God I am feeling better. I was sick for two weeks before I arrived here and couldn’t eat for almost that whole time. I am back eating everything in sight! Walking up a storm (9-14K miles daily) and swimming every day too. Nothing like the warmth and all the Vitamin D from the sun to heal a body and soul! Ahh!

The people are lovely here, friendly accommodating and they always welcome us back HOME. It does feel like a home away from home.

What makes it even more special are lol the returning friends we have met over the years. We can’t wait to see each other and catch up! We have fun on the beach with wine and champagne on Tuesdays or whatever day we decide and mango punches on Wednesday or whenever. Who cares which days they are we are all together having a grand time.

I was surprised to sell two of the four books that I brought down with me – Abby & Holly Books 1 & 2 as Christmas gifts. I was thrilled a friend passed the word about my books to her friend. If I could bring more books I would sell them better down here than back home.

Wonderful few days in our favorite place to be – Aruba – One Happy Island! Sigh! Stay tuned for more!

Thank you for stopping by! Wish you could be here one day too!

We will be selling one of our timeshares for week # 44 (next week to begin next year). It’s a one bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, kitchenette and living area with two balcony’s. Anyone interested? Email at jjspina(at)myfairpoint(dot)net. I will share photos of the views and the room next week. We have acquired another timeshare for next year for two weeks back to back to use and don’t need this one any more. It’s a beautiful room!

I love the Caribbean! Wishing you an amazing time of sun, beaches, good food, relaxation and fun!

  6. Great vacation, Janice. We went there several years ago. My husband went diving. It was so hot and windy that I didn’t take any photos. I should have taken some even in the hotel room like some of yours. The shops were closed in the afternoon. The taxi driver said everyone in Aruba has college education, wither studying locally or go to Netherlander. We went a couple years before the girl was killed in that island.
On a personal note, my poetry book is ready in less than 72 hours. I would appreciate your offer of promoting my book. I’ll do a book launch next Monday, November 5. Let me know what information you would like me to provide.
    Thank you, Janice! ❤

  7. Fabulous! ❤ Enjoy the magic… xo

Hi Janice. Thanks for sharing a slice of paradise! Looks divine. Glad you’re feeling well finally!!! 🙂 I’m wondering where your timeshare is, is it in one of the hotels sold off as timeshare or in a separate condo building. I know Aruba pretty well so was just wondering. ❤

Thanks, Debby. It is wonderful! Our timeshare is in the high rises, Divie Aruba Phoenix tower on Palm Beach. The whole complex is timeshares but when people don’t come on their week you can rent. If we don’t sell this week next year we will have to rent it for the maintenance fee. Hugs xx ❤️ 🌴 🏝

  9. Wow! So glad you are having a wonderful time, Janice. Happy Halloween hugs!
