Using Amazon KDP Publishing is Easy!

I recently published Book 2 in my Abby & Holly Series (MG/PT/YA) with Amazon KDP Publishing. I was nervous because I have only published in the past with Create Space.

Using Amazon KDP Publishing to publish your paperback or ebook is easy! There are three steps for each process to complete. First is the basic information such as your name, title and tags, etc. The next step is downloading your book and cover. The last step is pricing your book.

Suggestions to make this go smoothly:

1. Make sure you have formatted your book and left wide enough margins

2. Put in page breaks after each chapter so they will each line up on a new page.

3. If you make your own cover be sure to include the two cutoffs all around the edges when placing your title and name within these cutoffs. (One cutoff is white and the inside cutoff is red). CS only had only cutoff. Check with KDP for margins needed to complete this.

4. You need to put your title and name on the middle outside binder of your book. KDP doesn’t put it there for you like CS did. I like being able to put it there myself, or I should say, my husband takes care of that for me. It came out better than it did with CS. You can control size, bold, color and styles of printing by using Adobe Photoshop to create your cover and binder. There are other methods to use but this is what John, my husband, uses.

I had to call Amazon KDP Publishing once to confirm the margins for my book cover and they were extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. All in all it was a rewarding experience with little or no angst.

When I have a children’s book with colored illustrations to publish I will let you know what kind of experience I have publishing that too.

We authors need things to go smoothly when publishing. Don’t we? To get to this point with our books is rewarding and takes much energy and hard work. We just want to move along without any more problems creeping up on us. Well, Amazon has surprised and delighted me with the new publishing process. It is pain free.

Thank you for stopping by. Good luck with your own book publishing with KDP Publishing. Don’t be afraid to call and ask for help if need be.
