GOOD DAY AT NEW ENGLAND AUTHORS EXPO!
Heading over to New England Authors Expo at Danversport Yacht Club, Danvers, MA the weather looked threatening. It did rain from time to time during the day. But I never even noticed being so busy networking with other authors.
The outside of Danversport Yacht Club was lovely. I had my husband snap this photo of me in front of the beautiful hydrangeas.
It took an hour to get there and it was a long day for John and I. We arrived at the New England Authors Expo at 1:00 pm to set up at Danversport Yacht Club, Danvers, MA. Lucky for us it only began to sprinkle when we arrived and abruptly stopped. The event began at 10:00 am for some who were part of the discussion groups.
The ballroom was enormous and could possibly hold a few hundred people or more. This is a favorite spot for weddings. There was a wedding going on in another room. You can see from the photos below how expansive the room was. We could really spread out. There were supposed to be around 100 authors but I didn’t count to confirm this. There were several empty tables of those authors who did not come.
Here I am hanging out with new author friends, Dana Gambardella and David Liscio.
and new friend and fellow author Tim Baird.
The four of us were in a little corner and commiserated over how few prospects there were for selling but we had a good time chatting.
We were fortunate to find a table all to ourselves. Here’s our new setup. We purchased these trays to hold the books. They worked well but were a pain to carry.
We sold some books and met a famous author, Derek Nikitas, who wrote with James Patterson and a local TV producer who took two of my books to review and decide if she will use me on her program. Fingers crossed!
There weren’t as many people stopping by as we had all hoped. Here are some more photos of authors and visitors as I walked around to network with authors.
Here is Guntar on the left and Ceara Comeau on the right. Sorry I can’t remember or pronounce Guntar’s last name. Sorry Guntar! Ceara Comeau has been on my blog in the past when we met at another author venue. It was nice to see her again.
Here are many more authors I snapped photos of but did not get their names.
Authors Laurel Ostiguy and Stephen Lomer (both of these authors I met at the last two venues.) They are both lovely people.
Outside the ballroom the area was breathtaking but with the cloudy skies and threatening rain we couldn’t see much. Here are some views I snapped from inside. It was quite windy out there so I didn’t go out on the deck.
When it was time to leave I was ready even though I had an enjoyable time seeing old author friends and new. We had an hour ride home and left before 8:00 pm. It was scheduled to go until 9:00 pm but many other authors also left due to the slow turnout.
But all in all it was a wonderful day to meet and greet fellow authors and potential buyers. I look forward to the next venue.
I want to say a special ‘thank you’ to Chris Obert and his wife, Nancy, of Pear Tree Publishing for being one of the sponsors of this event and also all the other sponsors who made this possible for us authors.
Thank you for stopping by to read about this event. I hope you will stop by the next event that is scheduled. Go to N.E. Authors Expo to find out more about these events.

It’s funny how these exhibitions are often more about the contacts we make than the sales. The TV producer sounds like a great link but it is lovely to network with other authors.
Yes, I agree! Two of my sales was from a fellow author! 🤗😘
The connections and friendships are as important as selling books. Sounds like you had a great day, Janice.
Yes, that is true, Jennie. Had a good day seeing some fellow authors again. 🤗
I’m so glad, Janice. 😀
I plan to be there next year, Janice – hopefully they can drum up more foot traffic next time!
Oh, we decided we’re not going back since it was so poor a turnout and has been like that in the past, so I was told afterwards. There will be other venues to go to. We especially liked the one at Zorvino Winery in Sandown, New Hampshire. We will definitely go back there. The brewery one in Portsmouth, NH wasn’t good though.
They will be doing a children’s one that we will definitely go to. Hope to meet up with you at one of them. Hugs xx
What a fabulous event and venue Janice. You look marvelous dahlink! And how exciting a TV producer may consider your books????????????? Am I friends with an almost famous author???? 🙂 ❤ xxx
Ahh, don’t get too excited, my friend! It is a local TV station. You’ll be famous long before me! All I ask is that you remember me! LOL!
It’s funny but someone was looking for a memoir author. You would have gotten a sale or two. I’ve been thinking about doing a memoir of my life as a child. Not as interesting as yours though. Hugs xx heart ❤️ I could make it funny because of the mishaps I have had all my life in bathrooms! Ha! That’s got you wondering. Huh? LOL!
Lol, you are too funny! And thanks for the lovely words Janice. And one thing is for sure. All the fame in the world can’t buy friendships! ❤ I wish I was with you there. We'd have had a blast! And your bathroom stories, hey, I'd love to hear them LOL. Perhaps that's a good diversion book from your children's books. I'm all ears!!! 🙂 ❤
That’s for sure about fame. Friendships are precious and can’t be bought. I would love to have had you and Sally there. It would have been fantastic! I’m thinking of taking my bathroom stories on the road as a standup comedienne! Ha! Hugs xx ❤️
For real???????????????? 🙂 xxx
Lol! 😂
This looks lovely! Even with a slow turnout, your set up and the experience looks and sounds excellent!
Thank you, Didi! It’s tough on my husband. He gets bored. It was a long day. Sigh! I enjoy networking with fellow authors. 😀
It’s good for our husbands to stick it out on these days 😉.. Builds character, right? Lol kudos on his support! Networking is truly the best! 😍
Yes, he already is quite a character! LOL! Love the networking. Hugs
XOXO
Wonderful gathering, Janice! I just love seeing fellow author friends showcasing their work. Cheers to you and friendships made along the way! 🙂
Thanks, Natalie! 😘🤗
Best wishes, Natalie and I pray it works out well for you. Enjoy the day.
Thank you, MG and Natalie! Good day networking with four sales. 🤗
