What are Authors made of?

We all know what little girls are made of:

What are little girls made of?

What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice,
And everything nice,
That’s what little girls are made of.

We all know what little boys are made of:

What are little boys made of?

What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails and puppy-dogs’ tails.

That’s what little boys are made of.

But do you know what authors are made of?

What are authors made of?

Persistence

Going the distance

Determination

Organization

Creativity

Productivity

Thinking outside the box

Being unorthodox

Always gracious

Feeling tenacious

Sometimes bodacious

Inherently artistic

Ever optimistic

We authors are different from other people in that we are always thinking of our next story, and creating scenarios and characters in our every waking hour.

I have spoken to many authors over the years and we all agree we are different, an eclectic mix. We are constantly striving to do something better each time we write.

We read, extensively, others’ work and continue to study all we can to hone our craft of writing. Our joy is in seeing others enjoy our books. And, of course, selling books like crazy! LOL!

Next time you purchase a book, think of all the work that the author put into producing the book. All you need to do is review the book wherever you purchased it. That will be like giving a gift of love to the author. I think of reviews as early Christmas gifts all year round before and after Christmas.

Watch for a cover reveal for sequel to Hunting Mariah coming soon. I am still in editing mode with this new book. It will be a little while yet before I can publish. My beta readers will be looking at it first then back to editing again.

If you haven’t read Hunting Mariah yet, please check it out online at Amazon or Barnes & Noble before you purchase the sequel. I want you to enjoy it and know what the killer is thinking and how he thinks. The sequel begins where the first book left off. There are some surprises. HuntingMarahCover6 jpg

Who said it is easy to write, edit, publish, promote all on our own? It is a daunting task at times but I, for one, love doing it all! How about you other authors out there? Do you love what you do? Tell us!

There is a new children’s book now available on Amazon as a paperback and e-bookClarence Henry the Hermit Crab. This book will make a welcome addition to school libraries for science. There are a few photos of the real Clarence Henry who lived in a fish tank in our home for nearly ten years. We added some fun, interesting, and educational facts about hermit crabs also in the back of the book.

Thank you for stopping by to read my post. I always enjoy hearing from readers. Drop me a line by email – jjspina(at)myfairpoint(dot)net or on my contact page or leave a comment below.
