The Addams Family Musical
My husband and I went to a play, The Addams Family Musical, put on by the Kids Coop Theater at the Derry Opera House in Derry, New Hampshire on Saturday, July 23. It was quite a fun romp with a darkly comedic twist.
Anyone who remembers the TV show, The Addams Family, and its catchy song will know what I mean by its dark and macabre setting.
Two of my grandsons had leads as members of this famous family. My oldest grandson, Daniel (above with me), was Uncle Fester (this is his last show with the opera house, going to college in the fall, UNH). My younger grandson, Joey, played the role of Pugsley. Both of them did a tremendous job in their roles making this Grammy quite proud.
Here’s Daniel as Uncle Fester professing his love for the moon. I manage to take this at the back of the theater when no one was looking, LOL!
Here’s Joey as Pugsley with my two youngest grandchildren.
The show was quite a production by Kids Coop Theater and their creative director, staff, parents and volunteers. The fabulous music was provided by members of the Londonderry High School Band conducted by their dedicated instructor, Serge Beaulieu. Photos weren’t allowed so I took these after the show.
Here’s Lurch, the butler.
The actors worked tirelessly with many hours of practice each week. The joy of performing was evident in the faces of the smiling high school students. My grandson, Joey, was the youngest actor in the play. He loved every minute of performing with his oldest brother. Acting seems to be in my three grandsons’ blood. They also sing like angels. My middle grandson, Jason, helped back stage since there were no more available parts for him.
This is one of many shows in which they have performed for Kids Coop Theater and also Derry Opera House. Joey and Jason will continue to perform until they, too, reach high school or age 18.
Congratulations to all the incredibly talented actors, hard-working and creative Kids Coop staff, and the amazing and supportive parents for making this fantastic show possible.
I posted a YouTube video on my FB page of this play which I could not copy here. Go to @janicespina7 to view it.
