I wrote this poem a few years ago and feel that this is the true spirit of Christmas.
THERE HE LAY

On donkey did they travel, Joseph and Mary
Always careful as they went on their way
Heavy with the Christ Child she did carry
In her womb there HE lay
They arrived to find no place.
But HE was born in a drafty space
In a barn in a manager so spare,
Under HIS little body was laid some hay.
The Christ Child ever so fair,
There HE lay.

The animals all gather close by
To add their warmth to the air.
HE looks at them with clear bright eyes.
The Christ Child ever so fair,
There HE lay.
The star shining so bright,
Marks the way for them to come.
To bring gifts of love if they might
Traveling to lands they are far from
To see the Christ Child on HIS bed of hay.
There HE lay.
Together with family and friends we gather near.
May we always remember HIM on this HIS birthday.
Jesus Christ ever so dear
With God, our Father, there HE lay.
May God Bless you All!
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
