More Snow Makes for a White Christmas!

As I traveled around the neighborhood I noticed how beautiful the snow looks when it is still white and pristine.  I took these pictures of a golf course nearby because it was so beautiful and wanted to share them with you.

Here is a poem that I wrote from the first snow storm.  We have had a second storm since adding up to two feet of snow.  It is wonderful to look at but not to drive in case any of you are who are in a warmer climate wanted to know.  Kids love it to make great snowballs and snowmen.  I am beyond that stage since I get too cold when I am outside in this weather.  The temps have dropped to the teens and single digits some nights.  Brrrrrrr!  Pile on the blankets!

THE FIRST (OR SECOND) SNOW

As I look outside my window tonight

I watch the snowflakes drifting by.

The world never looks so clean and white

as when the first snow falls from the thick clouds in the sky.

As a child I always loved the snow

because there would be no school for the day

and off to sledding I could go,

having lots of fun in my own carefree way.

Now that I am an adult I look at the snow

with a different point of view

and think, “Oh, I wish to work I didn’t have to go!”

I don’t enjoy driving in the ice and snow that I must go through.

Oh, I wish I was a child again,

so that I could go

sledding with my friends

out in the glorious fluffy, white snow!

(The one good thing about now being retired – I don’t have to go work anymore!  I can work from home on my writing. Yippee!)

We’ve had four snowstorms already, Janice, but you have lots of snow. I agree it looks so pretty when you can admire it from inside, but driving in it is another story! Thinking of you and wishing you a lovely Christmas and New Year. I always enjoy stopping by. Your poem is beautiful.

Thanks Deanie. You are right. We did have a couple of previous storms with only a dusting. I didn’t count them as snow since it left quickly. Hope all is well with you.
Thanks for stopping by. I love hearing from you my friend.

  2. Wonderful wonderland photos and a fun-filled poem, too… I can sure relate. Lucky us, WE don’t have to GO OUT to go to work! Happy Holidays, Bette
