Happy New Year Readers!

Well here we are in a new year 2013! Will it take me a month to get the new date right on my checks?

I am looking forward to this being the year for me to actually get a book published!? My illustrator for one of children’s books has been busy working on each page meticulously to get them just right. The illustrations look great and I am getting excited about getting the book out to a publisher.

I know I can’t rush it because it does take a lot longer to illustrate a book than it does to write a story. Unfortunately my talent is not drawing unless I could get away with stick figure animals since a lot of my children’s stories are about animals.

Children love animals, don’t they? Even though several publishers told me they were not excepting stories about animals. I will not give up until I find one who does like my work. If not, then I will go to Pubit ebook publishing. A larger population now than ever is reading on e-reader devices such as Nook, Kindle, Sony, etc. I love my Nook and find I am reading more books and faster too! My goal is to pick up my Nook and find my books available online. What a wonderful feeling that will be to see them in print!

I met a lovely person on vacation last year who is an illustrator. Her name is Ara Atkinson Skinner and she is an incredible artist! We spoke about joining forces where she would illustrate one of my young adult fantasy books. Please check out her website to see her beautiful work at ara@araillustrated.com. That would be such an exciting venture for me to have her illustrate my cover for this story. It would be like bringing my story to life.

I wrote most of my stories over the past five years and have been editing them all ever since between sending them out to publishers. I continue to write poetry and I am also working on another story about an angel.

I will continue to work diligently until I attain the status of author. Keep checking in and follow my progress and wish me luck. It is not easy but I am having fun on this exciting journey!
