READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
Our vacation is almost over – one more week to go. I mentioned in a previous post that we want to sell our first week in Aruba. We only want to go for two weeks from now on beginning next year. Our second and third weeks are in one room so we don’t have to move. Moving can be a pain and is a wasted day until they have our next room ready for occupancy.
If you are interested in this week, please let me know by sending me an email to jjspina@comcast.net. We have about ten years left on it. The photos were shared in my previous post here. I will discuss price and particulars if you contact me.
More views of Aruba!
The odd photo above is of a crab I saw crawling up a wall outside the elevator not far from our room. Creepy, huh?
Dining and food:
Food is wonderful at all the places we went. We have two restaurants, one for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the other one just for dinner, a deli for breakfast and lunch, a bar on the beach for drinks and lunch, a sundry shop with all kinds of food, toiletries, and beach clothes and other items, and another higher end shop with all kinds of clothes for the beach.
There is also a jewelry store and an aloe shop in our main lobby of the Divi Aruba Phoenix Resort. It is located on Palm Beach with all the other high risers at one end that connects to Eagle Beach which has the low risers hotels.
We have been coming here for 28 years now. We are slowing down and don’t walk as much as we used to but get around with cabs that are plentiful here. Cab drivers are always pleasant and helpful.
Aruba is a perfect place to vacation and we hope to continue to come as long as we can after we sell our first week and then just enjoy the other two weeks.
It’s wonderful to be here but it is always good to get home. I will have plenty of laundry and adjustments to make to acclimate to the much colder weather we will have but we will get into the swing of things soon. I will be back to writing full time once again. Watch for updates on what is coming next from JemsBooks!
I hope you have enjoyed my photos and will come back again soon. Thank you for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please keep those reviews coming!

READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
Each year we return to Aruba we find new places to eat and shop. Our place, Divi Aruba Phoenix, has been renovating with plenty of updates and improvements. We are happy about that but there is always some glitches that they have to work out. We hope so anyway. I can’t really complain too much because the changes are great and our rooms look beautiful.
The weather had been overcast but no rain making for no good sunsets the first week. Since then the weather has been sunnier and hotter. We were fortunate enough not to be in the hurricane belt when the latest storm was in the Caribbean. We did experience some high waves, winds and parts of the beach were washed away causing a couple of palapas to fall over. No one was injured, thank God. We also lost one of the sidewalks near our resort. All will be repaired in Aruba time.
Here are some more photos for you.
We wait all year to go here and before we know it we are back home again. It is a wonderful place to vacation, relax, unwind and recharge. This is what we need to do. We will need to rest up once we are home again to get back into the swing of things after doing plenty of laundry and getting back to reality. Sigh! In the meantime, we are enjoying the rest of our vacation and soaking up all the sun we can to last us until next year.
We have three weeks here but are seriously thinking about selling our first week and then just going for two weeks which are in the same room which means no moving, packing and unpacking again. Here are some photos of the room we want to sell. It is a studio in the high rise on the eighth floor. This was another room on the tenth floor that we were given since our room was not finished but is the same as our room.
We stay in a villa apartment for the second and third week. I will take photos of that in the next post. It is beautiful and quite roomy – one bedroom, two baths and large living and kitchen area. This is the one we want to return to next year. It has a large covered deck with table, chairs and two lounge chairs. It has a great view of the smaller pool on the property and also the ocean. We love it!
We have been eating plenty of seafood, fish – grouper, red snapper, and plenty of other tasty dishes. I may have to go on a diet when I get home. We don’t eat desserts unless they are part of the meals. I do partake of the gelato once or twice. So delicious!
Well, I guess I have go on long enough. Got to get some sleep so I can get up early – 6:30 each morning to get the most of our days. I will be happy to sleep later when I get home! Haha!

This is the time to gather with family and friends, share good food and drink and catch up with all the news of those we have not seen since last year. READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
I am on my break from writing but here I am writing this post in Aruba, one of my favorite places to relax. Of course, I can’t stop writing in some way completely but I am not working on my WIP. I will be getting back to it once I return home.
Here are some of the photos I have taken while I am here. They celebrate Halloween and one restaurant is in full swing with Christmas decorations!
Here are some of Blossom’s Restaurant, Chinese cuisine, that has their Christmas decorations.
Here we are in a few different restaurants enjoying a drink and some of the food we ate.
We have been here a week but our vacation isn’t over yet. Here are some pics of our place and views from our rooms along with a couple from a high rise where we dined. What a view!
The weather has been great with no rain (oops shouldn’t say that)! We have had plenty of cloudy days but the weather was still warm and windy. The water is always 80 degrees and the air is in the high 80’s. I already burned the first couple of days and had to keep adding sunscreen and wear a shirt in the water. We spent hours floating around. It is so refreshing and relaxing. Pure paradise.
Our room was not ready when we arrived but they put us in another comparable room which had been upgraded and lovely. We moved to another room for the next two weeks which is our favorite. It will be difficult to leave this weather but I think at the end of the vacation we will be ready to return to home sweet home and get back to reality.
Watch for more photos of this lovely island paradise soon. I hope the weather back home is not too cold. It will be a shocker to get back there and have to wear heavy clothes again. Sigh!
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please stop by again and don’t forget to review books for authors. We will love you for your efforts to help spread word about our books.
I am reading more books to share with you next month. Keep reading everyone!

READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
Here it is already the end of another month. Where does the time go? I have been busy as usual reading some wonderful books for the month of October of 2025. Here are the 8 books I read and reviewed for October. I might have read even more if I didn’t have a few WIP. But I always seemed to have a WIP! That fact never stops me! I hope you enjoy reading these reviews.
I love sharing my eclectic reads in this Jemsbooks Segment, Books Read in the Month. I hope you will get a chance to look over these books soon. Thank you for your kind support of my work and that of my fellow authors.
If you are an avid reader, as I am, please review the books you love on Amazon or wherever you purchased them for others to enjoy your reviews. Reviews are one way for readers to know about an exceptional book. We indie authors love to receive reviews and appreciate the efforts of readers to do them. Once again, I thank you for your kind support of me and my books and for supporting my fellow authors too.
When I wrote these reviews I rated them on Amazon, Goodreads and sometimes Barnes & Noble. I did not include the ratings here though. It is best to share my thoughts with you about how I felt about the book without the rating. Ratings can be deceiving at times.
We all feel differently about books. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we like them and still other times we may dislike a book. Some other books are so memorable they take your breath away! While still others are sweet, sensitive, and enjoyable reads that we soon will forget. But all these books I have reviewed were lovely reads as you can see from my reviews. I hope you enjoy my reviews and that they will help you to decide what will be your next read.
Can’t Go Back is a gripping mystery crime thriller that is full of suspects and lies. The unthinkable happens when a mother and child are lost in a house fire without any idea how this happens. The father is a suspect but could he kill his own wife and child?
Devlin and Falco, detectives and partners, are on the case which brings back some tough times and harsh memories that Falco has tried to bury. How will he be able to share what has transpired in his past with Devlin who he has grown to love and cherish. He was a different kind of man who did things that he was now ashamed of and which he did not want to relive.
As they uncover clues they find more suspects that they must interrogate to find the reason for the murders. Will Falco be able to relive the horrific things in his past and come out unscathed?
This was an enjoyable, action packed mystery with memorable characters and intriguing story line. I look forward to more in this series with Devlin and Falco.
Amanda in Ireland is another journey with this adventuresome and clever young lady who loves to play detective wherever she travels.. The author created another interesting story involving Amanda’s latest trip.
There is plenty of intriguing information that the reader gleans from Amanda as she travels across Ireland and shares all the sites, castles, old buildings and their history, the bogs and bodies that have been found there and the food that she samples. While she is the Emerald Isle she in the midst of another adventure, and in her inimitable way she finds clues and gets involved in some dangerous situations.
This was a fun and informative read that I highly recommend! I look forward to more adventures with Amanda.
A beautiful story of love and loss!
All Our Beautiful Goodbyes is a beautiful story that rips at the heartstrings of the reader. The author has created a memorable tale of two lovers who found each other and then faced unimaginable obstacles that forced them apart.
I could feel the heartache and angst of these two main characters who fell in love and promised to be together but could not see what forces were to come to prevent them from being together.
This was a wonderful story that I can’t get out of my mind. The scenes were gorgeous and I can visualize the roses on Sable Island, almost smell them and the horses that roamed the land and felt the brine of the sea as the wind carried it across the island.
I highly recommend this book by this amazing author.
Good Neighbors is a fast-moving short story with a surprising opening scene that drives the story forward. It keeps the reader guessing who the perpetrator is and why he committed the act.
An enjoyable quick read!
Close Your Eyes is a taut thriller that can give any parent nightmares over the safety of their children.
Matthew Hill is seriously working toward getting back into the police force but when his daughter goes missing his life is put on hold in a horrendous way. He and his wife are already at odds with each other and this horrific situation only pulls them further apart.
They must band together to keep each other strong and stable until their daughter can be found alive or dead. Sometimes parents will go to the extreme to protect their children. As a former detective, Matthew knows how important it is that they find their child soon.
This was a moving and emotional story.
Three Mothers is a heart-wrenching story about families and their dysfunctional lives. This story is told through three different families who become closely interconnected after the death of one teenager.
There are some shocking revelations in this tale of families and their dysfunctional lives with mothers who will do anything to protect their children from harm even if they have harmed others.
An emotional read that touches the heartstrings especially if you are a parent.
A Sky Full of Love is a heartbreaking story that I found difficult to comprehend that such a terrible thing happened to this character. I don’t like to think of something ever like this being possible but who knows, life is tough at times for some.
When a kidnapped victim returns home after being missing and presumed dead for fifteen years, her world is turned upside down and will never be the same. Not only was her life for fifteen years a horrific experience being a hostage by a disturbed man, but things at home are not much better for her. She returns to find her child is now a teenager and her husband is married to her sister.
There is much she must have to accept or at least try to adjust to in order to get her life in order once again. She finds that one person is there for her who has always been her best friend.
This was a shocking story of how a woman can survive the toughest of experiences and somehow come back to regain her life even if it is appears beyond help. She must pull herself together and find an inner strength to forgive those who have hurt her.
A memorable story that makes you cheer for the poor victim that she will somehow come through her ordeal.
Lightning in a Mason Jar is a story about women who are in abusive relationships who are trying to escape and begin new lives. One woman, Winnie, who suffered in such a relationship manages to escape and find peace and a new life with the help of other women. She takes on a different name and begins her new life by helping other women like herself find a way to live in freedom and without fear from those who have abused them.
A young child, who this angel has helped finds herself doing what her savior had done in the past for other women when she grew up. She was adopted by Winnie and called her aunt. She has no idea about Winnie’s past abuse but soon finds clues of what Winnie has done for many other women. What she finds is a place to call home, a man who loves her, and friends that she can call family.
This is a heartwarming story that at the same time shows the tough times that these women have endured in their marriages and relationships.

The first book I published was about a baby elephant, Louey the Lazy Elephant. I love elephants, expecially babies. They are so sweet and comical just like children.
If you haven’t checked out Louey, please click on his cover to the right and see how sweet he is. Your children will fall in love with him. The drawings are done in crayon reminiscent of when children first started using coloring books. My husband did these drawings. It was the first time he became my illustrator. He has always wanted to redo the book with modern drawings but I won’t let him. It is perfect the way it is. I love Louey just this way and so have many of my readers. Louey would make a perfect gift for Halloween or any occasion. Happy Halloween! 🎃

READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
I will be taking some time off before the holidays to catch my breath. This year I wrote and published three books. One of these books was an epic adventure/fantasy that took me most of the year to complete. It was quite exhausting!
There are plenty of my books available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble for you to check out while I am offline somewhat. I promised my husband that I would do less and relax more but I can’t help myself at times to keep working. In order for me to stay fresh and creative in mind and spirit, I must try to take some time off. Of course, I am not getting any younger either so this time off is needed!
Next month I plan to work some more on the fantasy series which has two more books to complete the series of Gateskin Chronicles. I hope you have read some of the books so far. I promise to have one most definitely done mid-year in 2026 and the other once later on hopefully. They are quite long and epic creations that take more effort from me to complete. Please be patient with me.
While I am taking some time off, I promise to create a few more posts from time to time and will try to keep up with some of my emails. They get too cumbersome to let sit too long. I apologize if you can’t reach me or that I don’t respond right away. I will do my best in between resting and recharging to get back to you.
I will schedule some posts for you to read while I relax. Haha! I will have my phone and iPad nearby unless my husband confiscates them! Yikes!
Here are some of my books in a promo by BMGN for you to look at in the meantime.
